An: I know what you all think from the chapter title however, who knows who will ask Jesse out - Jess
—
The Yule ball was in a few weeks and it was the last week before the Christmas holidays. So many professors were stocking students up on homework as majority of them we're staying at Hogwarts for the Yule ball.
It was a Tuesday and Jesse was heading to her muggle studies classroom, she had just had history of magic which wasn't an interesting as it sounded. She noticed a couple redheads on the way to the classroom, however she sat next to Thomas since she had muggle studies with the other half of the pairing, Fred.
Jesse walked into the classroom and sat down in her usual seat, as she got her textbook and parchment out ready for the lesson. Thomas soon sat down next to her "hey Jesse" he spoke as he sat down, giving Jesse a warm smile "hi~ how was your morning?" She asked, looking at Thomas "boring, I had double charms" Jesse giggled slightly and looked at the front of the classroom as the teacher began the lesson.

They were halfway through the lesson when Thomas had ripped off a piece of parchment and slid it over to Jesse, she noticed it and picked it up, holding it below the table and reading it:
Hey Jess,
I know things like this didn't work before but I was wondering if you'd like to have a picnic with me? After lunch since I know you have free periods before astronomy this afternoon
Tommy xJesse smiled at the note before turning to Thomas and nodding 'was he indirectly asking me on a date?' Jesse thought to herself, however she pushed that thought aside as it would be good to go out with him like old times sake, maybe he'd ask her to the ball? She had given up on the thought of going with George as he would have asked her by now. So many going with an old friend would be for the best.
Fred had noticed the indirect talk from Thomas and Jesse and knew he'd have to inform George about that Slytherin boy. He knew that George had the biggest crush on Jesse and being his brother had to make sure he was the best wingman ever. Fred flicked a piece of parchment at Jesse which hit her in the face, stopping her from speaking with Thomas.
Jesse glanced at where the parchment came from, Fred, of course it was. She picked up the parchment and opened it, it didn't read anything just had a drawing of him hitting a Slytherin boy. She chuckled slightly before stuffing it into her pocket, she knew it was Thomas in the drawing however ignored it knowing it was Fred who threw it.

The lesson was soon over, and Jesse collected up her books and parchment before slipping them into her bag and heading off to find Elise and tell her about her little date. She had around 20 minutes before she would meet Thomas by the black lake which gave her around 15 minutes to have a girly minute with her best friend.
She headed down towards the great hall as many students were heading to get some lunch. Jesse spotted Elise and rushed over to her before sitting next to the girl "guess what~" she exclaimed excitedly, Elise just looking at her "Thomas may or may not have asked me on a date!" She said a little bit too loudly. Elise's eyes widened "finally! Took him long enough" she squealed and hugged Jesse tightly, many other students glancing over at the duo.
Fred looked at George before looking at the squealing girls "do you know anything about that?" Which made George shake his head "well I heard her and that Slytherin talking in muggle studies and getting a bit too close for my liking" George sighed whilst looking at his brother "she's allowed friends Freddie, plus they've been friends since first year." Fred sighed "but did you see them last year?!" He spoke a little too loudly. George remembered back to last year and felt his heart sink "I guess you're right.. maybe we should follow her?" Fred nodded "on it"
Jesse smiled and stood up before brushing herself off "okay~ I'm going to go meet him now" she spoke before giving Elise one last hug before she walked off towards the black lake. A few moments later, Fred got up and followed behind her, making sure she didn't notice him.
Jesse saw Thomas and waved before heading over to him and sitting next to him on the blanket he had laid out "I heard this is something muggles do, it's called a picnic" he added before handing Jesse a glass of pumpkin juice "thanks Thomas~ I'm guessing this is what you were planning when you had 'homework'?" She giggled slightly finally figuring it out "me and Elise are hopeless at lying infront of you, sometimes I think you're really a ravenclaw" he added making Jesse chuckle slightly.
After a good 30 minutes, Thomas and Jesse stood up and headed back inside, before Thomas stopped them both beside the door. "I really enjoyed this Tommy" "me too Jess" he said with a smile before he quickly pecked Jesse on the lips. Jesse didn't expect that, she touched her lips slightly and blushed at the sudden action. Thomas smiled weakly "sorry" he spoke with his head held low. "No no it's fine! I just didn't expect it that's all" Jesse added whilst hugging the boy tightly "I'll see you later yeah?" She said before walking into the school 'he kissed me' she thought to herself, however it didn't give her the same effect as last year.
She caught up with Elise and pulled her aside, "he kissed me Elise" she said with a small smile which Elise squealed at "oh my gosh!!" She hugged Jesse tightly before realising something wasn't right "what?" Elise spoke before looking at her friend "it didn't feel the same as it did last time we kissed.. it felt different" "in a good or bad way Jesse" she gave Jesse a weak smile "like I wished it was someone else" she mumbled, loud enough for Elise to hear "oh merlin, you're a confusing girl you are" Elise wrapped her arm around Jesse shoulders "come on~ you can walk me to my next lesson" Elise said and chattered along to make Jesse feel better.
Fred ran to where he was supposed to meet George and panted when he reached him "George.. they kissed" he said in between breathes, which made George annoyed and jealous.
