शुभं करोति कल्याणमारोग्यं धनसंपदा ।

शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते ॥

Dhanteras is also known as Dhanatrayodashi. It's the primary day that marks the celebration of the celebration of Diwali in India.

It is celebrated on the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksha within the Hindu month of Kartik. Dhanvantari who is also worshipped on the occasion of
Dhanteras is considered the God of Ayurveda, who imparted the wisdom of Ayurveda to help  mankind and to help in getting rid of the suffering of diseases.

Lord Dhanvantari, according to Hindu Mythology  emerged during Samudra Manthan while holding a Kalasha full of Amrit (an Ayurvedic herbal mix) in one hand and the sacred book about Ayurveda in the other hand. He is thought to be the Vaidya of Gods.

On Dhanteras homes that haven't nevertheless been clean for the preparation for Diwali are
thoroughly clean and painted and Lord Dhanvantari, the god of health and Ayurveda, is worshipped in the evening. The entrance of the home is embellished with vibrant
lanterns, vacation lights and ancient motifs of Rangoli designs are made to welcome the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity. To indicate her long-awaited arrival, small footprints are drawn with rice flour and vermilion all over the house. On the night of Dhanteras, diyas are  kept burning  throughout the nights in honour of Lakshmi and
Dhanvantari.

Hindus consider this day as an extremely auspicious day to make new purchases, especially
gold or silver and new utensils. It is believed that new "Dhan" (wealth) or some form of precious metal could be a sign of excellent luck. In modern times, Dhanteras is considered as the most auspicious occasion for buying gold, silver and other metals especially
utensils. The day also sees heavy purchases of appliances and automobiles.

This day's celebration is celebrated to increase wealth and prosperity. Dhanteras engages themes of cleansing, renewal, and the securing of auspiciousness in the form of Lakshmi.

Indian Legion wishes everyone a very happy Dhanteras!
