Assalamualaikum,
I hope you all having a wonderful time in these difficult times. I know that we all have faced problems from time to time. But I truly believe in the power of Allah. And believe in what our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said.
Today is celebrated as Eid-e-Milad un Nabbi all around the world. Many people are not even aware of what is significances of the day.
According to the Islamic Calendar, Prophet Muhammad was born on 12th of Rabbi-al-awwal.
While the day was not celebrated much at the start of Islam, it was celebrated, later on, the Ottoman Empire was the first officially declared it as a holiday.
Mostly all the sects of Islam celebrate the say exceptions being the Wahhabi and Salafi sects which is why the day is forbidden to celebrate in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
On this day most countries have different styles of celebration. In India, Muslim stay awake at
night and light their houses with candles or diyas all throughout the night. In the morning you sing hymns or 'Naath' in the praise of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Poems are also sung in his praise.It is a day of great significance to Muslims because it is a day that celebrates the prophet (peace be upon him).
In many households, women also prepare sweets usually.
Other countries like Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia all hold fairs for three days. In India also many places can be seen holding faires. Madarsa students sing Naath for these three days.
So, now you know what this day means and what Muslims around the world do to celebrate it.
