Song above is called 'Nails' by: Call Me Karizma. I do not own the video or song, but the song is worth listening to as I feel like it captures the desperation that Dean often brings out in Zara. Like and comment because I appreciate your support, y'all. Happy reading! :) This chapter is dedicated to someone who has been reading this since about the day I've been writing it. Thank you, Diana. I love ya and I hope you're not too mad at me for chapter 50. She's not dead, yet!
Another excerpt from Zara's diary
When all hope seems lost
When life seems like it can't get any worse
From here
That fear
Clenching your fists
Twisting your stomach into knotsMaking you think that life can't get any
Worse than this
Just
stick around
'Cause it gets betterAnd by better
I mean
That if you think things are bad now
That worse seems impossible
That you can't possibly experience anything
Worse than this
Moment right
now
Just wait andStick around
You'll see
You'll wish you ain't never complained
About how terrible and unbearable
Your life was beforeBecause just when all hope seems lost
When life seems like it can't get any worse
From hereStill fear
Still look over your shoulder
When you cross the street
Late at night
When no is watching
Still lock your phone up in that safe
No one but you knows you have
Still keep that gun
Under your pillow
For when you sleep at night
That everyone
Knows you have
But not about how well
You know how to use itBecause
When all hope seems lost
When life seems like it can't get any worse
From here
And that you have nothing else to fear
You are finally in the clearStill fear
Because when you let your guard down
Is when he'll attackEat
You
UpAnd not the fun kind
He will grab you
Ruin your perfect and silky smooth skin
Leaving only the color red
And maybe black
And maybe blue
But not whiteAnd once he's had his fun
That's when the real terror starts
Because
After his fun
And your screamsHe won't care anymore
Won't care if you live orSo once he's had his fun
And you're lying limp in his arms
Too tired to struggleAfter he's done sucking the white out of you
And putting red in youHe
Will
Kill
YouAnd
He will do it
With a smile on his face

Jo and I go to Dianna's house, hoping that we'll find Zara and end this once and for all. The police are with the rest of the gang following us.
I would have gone alone, but Jo insisted she come along so here we are.
"Nuttinberg never mentioned Dianna as a wife, right?" She asks me for the hundredth time.
"Not the time." I clench my teeth, wishing I'd told Jo not to come along with me, knowing she would have found a way to come with me anyway because that's just Jo. She never gives up.
"You need a distraction. I need a distraction." Jo shrugs. "And I need to talk about this to someone. It's a win-win." She's got a point. I don't want to keep thinking about all the things he may be doing to her right now. What if--
"She didn't have a ring on her finger. Right?" Jo unknowingly interrupts my inner turmoil.
"People can get pregnant and not married. You do know that, right?" I point out and Jo just rolls her eyes. Scoffing at me, as she looks at the surprising traffic for being in the middle of the night and all.
"I know that. Just checking." She says. "This is it. That house!" She points to the light blue house with a beautiful garden in the mix.
I pull into the driveway. The cop cars not far behind me.
Just as I unbuckle my seat belt, trying to prepare myself for what I could potentially see in there, Someone pounds on my door.
I look up and my eyes are met with emerald green eyes. The eyes I know by heart. The eyes I've never been happier to see before in my life.
