The Real Truth
Series 3 Chapter 1

Harry walked into the chamber to be met with a basilisk corpse. He winced, he felt incredibly guilty for killing her, especially since he'd found out he was her master too. Harry made his way around the large snake and started looking through the chamber. He hadn't been down here since second year and was curious to see what the chamber held. Harry knew that everyone in the castle now knew where the chamber was but he was glad that no one would be able to get down here without a parseltongue, and he along with his father were the only two left.

Harry walked through one of the various passages of the chamber. He came across a very old door. After casting multiple unlocking charms, including saying "open" again in parseltongue, Harry shoved at the door with his side. Apparently it had been unlocked, just stuck after not being used for so many years. Harry entered a dust filled room.

"Lumos"

Harry walked along the wall to his right until he reached the opposite side of the room, the wall in front of him filled to the brim with books. Harry gawked and realized this must've been a library. He'd taken to reading lately, especially about different kinds of magic he could learn, and was about 90% sure that all of these books must be about dark or forbidden magic. Putting more power into his lumos spell, Harry lit up a larger portion of the room. He looked through the shelves selecting multiple books that caught his interest. In no way was he like Hermione when it came to books, but his appeal for them had gone up drastically when he'd gotten the blocks and spells removed. Harry guessed some of them must've altered his personality a bit. Or perhaps it was that he was now much more in touch with his Slytherin side.

Harry found what looked to be a comfortable chair, quickly cleaned it with a wave of his wand, and sat down to start reading. Trying every spell he read about until he could cast it decently. When it was almost time for him and his dorm mates to wake up Harry left the chamber -taking some books with him- and made his way up to Gryffindor tower to get ready for class.

Harry kept this schedule up. He'd claim to go to bed every night at ten, cast the regular spells on his curtains so no one could open them, and make his way down to the chamber. Only to return at around two am, once everyone was asleep, to get some sleep. Currently, Harry was sitting at the Halloween feast with Hermione. Thanks to his nights spent in the chamber practicing along with his and Hermione's lessons, Harry had learned how to do every single spell from first year wandlessly and wordlessly. Second year he was able to pull off wandless magic but he was still struggling without using words. He'd also bettered his mindscape. Remembering to meditate for an hour every night before bed really helped. Sure it was hard, and annoying as heck, but Harry wouldn't risk having Dumbledore, or anyone else, invade his mind ever again.

Harry dug in when the food finally came, making sure to not stuff his face much to Hermione's joy. She was always so revolted whenever Ron talked while chewing, or had food on his face, or lacked any table manners really. Since he didn't fancy being berated by Hermione at the moment Harry made sure to keep his manners in check while eating everything Hermione shoved onto his plate, claiming that he never ate enough even though he ate himself past full at every meal.

"Harry could we meet in the library tomorrow after class? I have a lot of work to do and you promised to help if I ever needed it." Hermione asked.

"Yeah, I'll get a table in the back earlier since I have my last period free tomorrow."

"Great."
