The Real Truth
Series 1 Chapter 16
Harry had another detention with McGonagall -who had taken to taking care of all of her students detentions they got from Umbridge- so he, Hermione, and Ron split up. Harry stepped into the nearest empty classroom then came out looking like Harry Potter, instead of Hadrian- whatever his last name was.
"Harry!"
Harry froze on the spot, he knew that voice...
"Or should I say Hadrian."
Harry cursed under his breath.
"What do you want Draco?" Harry didn't realize he'd used the boy's first name.
"I knew it was you! How in Merlin's name did that happen?!"
Harry shrugged, "Dumbledore found out about me and Hermione. He took us away and split us up. When my father found me Dumbledore killed him and gave me to the Dursleys."
He still hadn't turned around.
"So... The dark lord knows who you are? Then why do you keep hiding it?"
"He doesn't. Er- well, he might."
"Is that why you've been ignoring me? That day in Flourish and Bolts, was that when you found out?"
"No, I found out on my birthday when it happened."
"And what do I have to do with any of it? You haven't even looked at me once."
Harry laughed, "You make it sound as if you missed me."
"Why would I miss you?" Draco spat. He mentally cursed himself.
"My thoughts exactly. I have detention with McGonagall in twenty minuets so if you'll excuse me-"
"Wait."
Harry stopped.
"You still haven't said why you've been ignoring me."
Harry hesitated, " I don't think you want to know."
"I do."
Harry sighed. Well, it was the only way to find out the truth. His thoughts had been running wild and now he could just forget about them all. Harry turned around and looked Draco straight in the eyes. The feeling disappeared, Harry knew it for sure now, Draco was his mate. Draco stared at Harry's eyes, he didn't know how it happened but the pulling feeling grew stronger. His heart was pounding in his throat and then something snapped. He let out a shakey breath. So that's why his feelings had been bubbling up again. That's why he always found himself staring at Harry. They were mates. That's why Harry ignored him.
"You didn't want it to be true. Didn't you?"
The question caught Harry off guard. He shrugged.
"I was scared. When I saw you in Flourish and Bolts... I panicked. We've always hated each other and I had just found out afew weeks ago that my father was Voldemort. I didn't want to deal with it so I set those thoughts aside, tried to ignore it."
Malfoy nodded.
"Don't get me wrong or anything, I don't hate you, well, maybe a bit, but not anything like how I hate Snape or Voldemort!"
Draco gave a dry smile, "I get it Potter."
Harry shifted nervously.
"You don't feel that way about me and I get it. I've been a git to you ever since first year, when you rejected my offer to be friends. I tried to convince myself I hated you, but honestly, all of my attacks at you and your friends was just a stupid way of getting your attention..."
"What?" Harry asked, confused.
Draco shook his head, "Don't worry about it, figure out your own feelings first... see you later Harry."
Draco walked away leaving a dumbfounded Harry behind.
——
Harry trudged back into the common room after a long detention and fell onto a couch next to Hermione and Ron.
"Alright there mate?" Ron asked, clearly amused.
"I got in trouble for being late to detention with another detention tomorrow." Harry groaned into the couch pillows before sitting up.
"Why were you late?" Hermione asked.
"Draco confronted me. He knows..."
"About you being mates?" Hermione's eyes lit up.
"Er- yeah.. that... and um... about me being Hadrian.."
Hermione gasped and Ron's face went blank.
"He didn't say anything about you two but since he knows who I am I think he'll piece together that you guys are the other two in the lessons."
"How did that happen?!"
"The pulling, it was the main thing, I'm also guessing he followed Hadrian then saw me in the halls, putting two and two together he confronted me."
"And you didn't lie?"
"I didn't know if he saw me go into the classroom as Hadrian and come out as Harry or not!" He whispered fiercely.
"Harry he could tell his father!" Ron said.
"He may be a prat but he's not a twit. If he tells anyone he'll be in trouble and he knows it." Harry told them.
Hermione sighed, "Harry, Draco would probably be praised for telling father who his son was."
"I never said he'd be in trouble with him Hermione."
Hermione and Ron stared at him. Not wanting to linger on that thought Hermione pushed the subject away.
"So what happened when he found out about you two being mates?"
Harry hesitated, "Er- well... um......." he couldn't form words. "I'm gonna go to bed."
Hermione laughed as Harry left and made his way to his dorm.
Authors Note - You can skip-
So, in the book I wrote (which this story is a re-write of) I may have skipped afew parts, also know as the rest of fifth year till the department of mysteries. Yeah, I won't be doing that here so there may be a group of chapters that are shorter or a bit crappier then my usual because I haven't re-written them twice. I will still be trying to produce good chapters for this gap but it may take a bit longer than usual. I hope you understand and thank you for reading 😊
