The Real Truth
Series 3 Chapter 5Christmas holidays were approaching. Hermione had written to her parents asking them if she could stay over at Harry's. They said yes and Harry wrote to the Dursley's telling them he wouldn't be returning for Christmas break, of course, getting no response. They planned to say they were staying with the Grangers and they even had Death Eaters set up around the Grangers' house to alert them if Dumbledore appeared there and they could shadow in. Said Death Eater would then Impiro the Grangers, seeing as neither Harry or Hermione could do the curse yet. Once Dumbledore left Harry and Hermione would return to Slytherin Manor and the Grangers would be released and oblivio'd.
The day before the were due to leave was the day of Slughorn's Christmas party. Harry decided that it would also be the best day to tell Dumbledore the number of Horcruxes after the party. This was one of the ones where they were to bring a date. Of course, Harry and Draco wanted to go together, but they couldn't without giving away their relationship.
"Well, it's not like I'm going with anyone else." Draco said, crossing his arms.
"I'm not either, but if we go together then our relationship wouldn't be a secret anymore." Harry told him for the tenth time that day.
"I don't see why we have to keep our relationship a secret anymore anyway."
"If we suddenly get along, let alone let it out that we're dating, don't you think Dumbledore will get suspicious? I might be getting better at Occlumency but I'm still not great and he's already trying to push into my mind a lot, I don't think I'd be able to keep him out if he tries any harder. Besides, what if someone tells my father."
"All of the Slythein's already know." Draco pointed out.
Harry paused to think.
"They would've already told their parents and their parents could've told the dark lord."
Harry had to admit that Draco made a good point.
"Ok so that's not a problem anymore then," Draco smirked victoriously, "But that doesn't change the fact that Dumbledore will notice that something's up. He might even try invading your mind."
"I've known Occlumency since I was seven." Draco told him, "You forget who my parents are."
Harry rolled his eyes, "Well excuse me for not wanting anything to happen to you."
"I can protect myself."
"You weren't able to when you got turned into a ferret." Harry pointed out.
Draco glared at him and Harry laughed.
"Ok, ok, I'll stop bringing it up." He said laughing, holding his hands up in mock defeat.
"Good." Draco said with a nod.
"If you really want to go together that bad we can, though we'll have to be prepared for the consequences." Harry told him.
"Nope. You're not worth it anymore." Draco said, sticking his nose up in the air.
"Is that how it is now? Ok, I'll ask Luna to go with me."
