The Real Truth
Series 1 Chapter 4

They all floo'd back to the burrow. It was around four am by the time they got back. Ginny went up to bed, along with Molly. Arthur started to get ready for work. Everyone else decided to stay up. Harry and Hermione we're talking about muggle games while Ron played Fred in chess, with George providing commentary.

"And~ Ron's king is brutally defeated by Fred's queen!"

George then proceeded to act out the scene, pretending to be the king, Fred joined in, playing the queen. Harry and Hermione were laughing hysterically by the bed of it while Ron silently fumed. He was about to say something to the twins but Hermione beat him to it and changed the subject.

"Hey Harry, what did the third piece of parchment say? We never got to see it."

All eyes turned on Harry, who pulled out the parchment from his pocket, and read it aloud.

"Harry James Potter. Creature inheritance, Animagus, Veela. Animagus form, unknown, fifteen percent. Veela, fifty percent. Mate, unknown."

Hermione nodded.

"You're a Veela?" The twins asked.

"Fifty percent Veela."

"Why does it say your mate is unknown?" Ron asked.

Harry shrugged, causing Hermione to sigh.

"Seriously Harry?" She shook her head, "I guess I'll explain. His mate is unknown because he hasn't come in contact with them since he received his creature's inheritance."

"Ginny's gonna be upset at that" Ron scoffed.

Hermione ignored him and continued, "When he is around his mate some have described it as their smell becoming stronger, or feeling a pull towards them. That feeling will only stop when they make direct eye contact. You'll know when you're looking into the eyes of your mate because something will click on the back of your mind that just tells you. It's not a solid thing since it differs between people but that's what the majority say they experienced."

"Well then I know it's not any of you." Harry said.

Ron had a small laugh, "Ginny's gonna be pissed if you tell her that Har."

"This whole summer I've been trying to show her I'm not interested and she hasn't stopped flirting, I don't think not being my mate will stop her Ron."

"What was it like when you two found your mates?" Hermione asked Fred and George.

"More like they found us." Fred laughed.

"We were in the room of requirement working on our pranks when they walked in."

"Turned out we already knew them"

"And had fancied them"

"So we kinda just hit it off from the start." They finished together.

Hermione nodded, seemingly slightly disappointed by their answer.

"Don't worry 'Mione we'll find out who their mates are someday." He said patting her on the back.

"Never-"

"Gonna-"

"Happen"

The five started laughing but it was soon deflated when Ginny came around the corner.

"What's going on?"

"Fred and George told us how they met their mates." Ron inform her.

Ginny nodded then turned to Harry. "Who's your mate Harry?"

"Unknown."

"Really?"

"Yeah" Harry handed her the parchment. She frouned.

"You could still discover who your mate is." Ginny said handing the paper back, "It could be any one of us." She added an eye bat.

"Actually it can't, if I came in contact with them since my inheritance then it would show up on the parchment, and I would've know the moment I made eye contact with them."

"Direct eye contact." Hermione corrected him.
Ginny glared at her.

"Then why are you two always so close if your not mates?" She spat.

Hermione looked up at Harry who looked back at her.

"Harry's like a brother to me Ginny." Hermione told her.

"Yeah. We view each other as siblings not romantic partners." Harry agreed.

"We bother come from muggle homes, we're both adopted-"

"Your adopted?!" The Weasleys burst out.

"They didn't know?" Harry asked.

"Uh- yeah? You were kinda the only person I told."

Harry shook his head, a lopsided smile on his face.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Ron asked, hurt.

"Because, Harry knew what it felt like to not know anything about your parents, I didn't mean anything by it Ron."

"It's fine... but... how come you don't consider me as a brother too?"

"I-... I do, it's just, something kinda clicked with Harry from the start. There was some sort of familiarity, like we knew each other before we even met-

"Harry!"

Harry fell backwards, passed out cold.

"Ginny get mum!" Ron yelled running to his friends side.
