The Real Truth
Series 1 Chapter 14Harry had to find out a way to actually learn Defense Against the Dark Arts this year. As he walked up the steps to the Gryffindor common room he realized that he wouldn't be able to send letters to anyone about it. Mail was monitored, no doubt by Umbridge herself. Harry cursed under his breath and stepped through the portrait hole after saying the password. He'd only have one person to rely upon. He passed Hermione and Ron in the common room, making his way up to his dorm, more specifically, his journal. He sat on his bed and opened the book. He had his quill in had, but he didn't know what to write.
"Harry, is everything alright?" Hermione walked in, she saw the journal open and Harry with a quill, she eyed him suspiciously.
"What's going on mate?" Ron asked.
Harry looked up at them, "Guess what Umbridge is doing in her detentions," he said in mock cheerfulness, "She's having me carve into my own skin with a blood quill. Which by the way, use of them on students is banned."
Hermione gasped and reached out for Harry's left hand. She saw the light 'I must not tell lies' and cursed under her breath, surprising both Ron and Harry who could hear her.
"You've got to go to Madam Promphy." Hermione told him.
"He can't, the hospital wing is closed." Ron said.
"When has that ever stopped me?" Harry said with a slight laugh.
"You have to tell a teacher at least."
"Already did 'Mione. I glamoured one of my quills as a blood quill and stashed the real one away. After detention I went strain to Professor McGonagall and gave it to her, showing her the cuts in my hand from it."
Hermione let out a breath, "Good. Now... what are you doing with that notebook?!"
Harry gave a dry smile. "I don't think we'll actually be learning anything in defense this year. Umbridge is most likely monitoring mail, this is my only way to reach out to people."
"Harry! Are you mad?!" Ron asked.
"You're reaching out to him!"
"Who's 'him'?" Neville asked.
The three turned around to see Neville standing in the doorway.
"Sorry, I just overheard your conversation a bit when I came in-"
"It's fine Neville." Harry said.
He looked at Hermione who waa giving him a look.
'Should we tell him?'
'You really are mad aren't you?'
'A bit'
'No, we can tell him'
'Why?'
'Because no one can know! Do you know what would happen if it got out we were the dark lord kids?'
'Neville wouldn't tell anyone'
'He's not a hufflepuff Harry, even Gryffindor's betray friends'
