The Real Truth
Series 3 Chapter 14Lunch was uneventful with everyone. Harry had expected there to be questions about him and Ron from the others but no one said anything. They ate in relative silence and Harry engaged in some conversation with Remus, Sirius, Fred, and George about different pranks and items. Harry also noticed that Remus had his arm over Tonks's shoulder through the entire meal but decided not to say anything. When they finished eating Harry and Hermione said their goodbyes and Harry shadowed them back to their rooms.
"What happened between you and Ron?!" She demanded as soon as they stepped foot in their common room.
"What?"
"You two were practically radiating extreme tension. What. Did. You. do?"
"Nothing! I just might have crucio'd him..."
"HARRY!"
"I didn't mean to! It just- sorta- happened when I barely even glanced at him."
Hermione opened her mouth but nothing came out. It happened a few more times before she got any words formed.
"Y-you... cast the cruciatus curse..... by just- looking at him..?"
Harry nodded. Hermione seemed to deflate.
"B-but... how?"
"I dunno. I let it up as soon as I realized what was happening."
Hermione thought for a long moment, "You have to tell father. He'll probably know what to do."
"No, I don't because knowing him he'll probably make some kind of comment about how I was irresponsible to let my anger get the better of me and how I didn't want the Weasleys harmed yet I crucio's their son, making him bleed."
"He was bleeding?!"
Harry mentally slapped himself, "Er- yeah? Out of the mouth?..."
Hermione just stared at her twin, after a while she spoke, "Stop concealing it."
"What?"
"You must have some huge amount of magic to be able to pull that off. You must have had to pull in your magic to not alert the Weasleys. Stop."
"I don't know how to just stop-"
"Harry. Just, take a deep breath and focus on your magic. Think about it spreading through the entire room."
Harry sighed and closed his eyes. After a few minutes his magic started to leak out, slowly at first but it soon started to flood, filling up the entire room. Hermione sucked in a breath and Harry's eyes immediately snapped open and he rushed over to her.
"What happened? I didn't do anything did I?"
Covering her mouth Hermione shook her head. The sheer amount of power that filled the room was more than she'd ever felt before. She felt it rap around her, as if trying to sooth her. She saw the confusion in Harry's eyes and lowered her hand.
"It's just- Harry... look around."
Harry did so. Every now and then he'd see the slight spark of electrifying green, the same color as his eyes and the killing curse.
