The Real Truth
Series 1 Chapter 13Harry, Ron, and Hermione made their way down to potions. For once Harry was feeling confident walking in and taking his usual seat next to Ron, he hoped all his studying over the summer payed off. Harry and Ron were talking when Draco walked in, flanked by Crabb and Goyle. Harry felt Draco's eyes on him as Harry continued to talk to Ron, not giving a look in the blonds direction. Harry's heart was pounding in his throat and he felt like at any moment he'd be ripped from his chair, as Draco and Blaise sat at the table right next to Harry and Ron. Draco was just over an arms length away and it was driving Harry crazy. He asked Ron to switch places, the red head was confused but switched places with Harry, though it didn't help much. When Snape came in Harry expected to be met with his always ready hateful glare but it never came. Snape did look at him, but it was more concerned then anything.
The class ended up going by smoothly and Harry was still able to concentrate even though his mind was screaming at him to find his mate. He had actually improved a lot and even caught Ron on a few snags, helping him with his potion too. Harry could tell Snape was surprised but he said nothing to either of the boys. Harry was confused by Snape's unusually pleasant behavior. He was his Godfather so maybe he'd been told about Harry's letters? No. Harry pushed that thought aside. If that was true then it would mean that Voldemort knew who Harry was and he didn't want to think about it. Maybe he had heard about Harry's outburst last night and knew the real meaning behind Harry's words. Yes, that must've been it, but still, if that was the case, he was screwed. By the end of class the group made their way to defense -Harry inwardly groaned- with the Slytherins.
"I still can't believe that you or Professor Snape didn't lash out at each other once! And for a double lesson nonetheless!" Hermione said astonished.
"I dunno Hermione." Harry said with a shrug, "He kept his mouth shut so I kept mine shut."
They took their seats and Harry leaned his head on his fist. Unfortunately his eyes wandered and he briefly caught the gaze of Malfoy, looking away as fast as possible.
Draco was confused. Ever since that time at Flourish and Bolts Harry had been acting strange around him. Normally they would have been butting heads by now, or at least have been glaring at each other, but it was like Harry was ignoring him. He'd glance in his direction but they never made direct eye contact. Draco sighed, he knew he had probably ruined it at the book shop. Now Harry probably hated him even more to the point where he refused to even acknowledge his existence. Draco didn't know why but ever since he saw him in Flourish and Bolts he'd been drawn towards Harry. For some reason his old feelings towards the boy, which he thought he'd squashed down, were coming back up and Draco didn't like it.
"Good Morning Children."
A plump women dressed in all pink, walked up from the back of the class.
"Ordinary Wizarding Level Examination." She waved her wand as she talked, the words appearing on a blackboard at the front of the class in white chalk. "O. W. L. More commonly known as Owls. Study hard, and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so, and the consequences may be, severe."
Now at the front of the class the women waved her wand again and books started handing themselves out to students.
"Our previous instruction on this subject has been disturbingly, uneven."
Harry looked down at his book, the cover looking like one of the kiddy lullaby books Aunt Petunia used to read to Duddly. 'Dark Arts Defense: Basics for Beginners'
