The Real Truth
Series 2 Chapter 18

Harry stared out the window of the compartment he and Hermione had claimed. He found himself unconsciously looking for a familiar family of redheads, though when he realized what he was doing he shook his head and turned away from the window.

"Why did you say that?" Hermione asked him in a small voice.

"Say what?" Harry asked.

"Earlier, you said that if the Weasleys were to die... it would be in your hands."

"How else would I have gotten him off of killing them?"

Hermione's eyes widened as she looked at Harry. Something stung inside her when she saw his face. His eyes were filled with hurt, yet he wore a smile.

"What?" She asked, her throat suddenly dry.

"He was going to kill them. As much as they hurt me... I don't want them dead. Ron was my best friend for years and I still care for Ginny like a little sister. Also Bill and Charlie weren't even a part of all this. I said that if they were to be killed it would be me killing them, and I don't want to kill them." Harry finished with a nod.

Hermione let out a breath and visibly relaxed.

"Did you really think I would've killed them?"

Hermione looked up at Harry, only to look away in shame.

"Honestly, I did. You were practically radiating anger and had said that their deaths would be by your own hand."

Harry paused, "Yeah ok, I get why you'd think that."

Hermione laughed.

There was a knock on the door, it slid open to reveal Ginny standing there.

Harry's gaze sharpened and he glared at Ginny.
"What do you want?"

"Ron and the twins think I'm in the bathroom right now. I just had to talk to you." Ginny said in a small voice.

Harry raised an eyebrow but motioned for her to come in and sit down. Ginny did just that and Harry put a silencing charm around them.

"What?"

Ginny visibly swallowed before she spoke, "I don't care what side of the war you two are on. I love my family and I hate going against them... but I still trust you. I'm sorry I hid while you and Ron were fighting, it wasn't a very Gryffindor thing to do. I... I don't support you, but I won't abandon you."

Harry let out a breath, a worn smile appearing on his face, "Thanks Gin."

Ginny looked back up at him, smiling herself, before turning to Hermione.

"You made a good point before leaving, which is why I'm trying to fix my mistake. I'm sorry."

Hermione gave her a smile of her own and pulled Ginny into a hug, which the ginger returned. Harry rolled his eyes. Now he understood why Hermione and Ron had always made fun of him for being so dense. Ginny left after an awkward break up between herself and Hermione. Harry just shook his head as he looked at his sister with a very light bit of pink on her cheeks. The train started to pull away and the door was swung open.
