The Real Truth
Series 4 Chapter 1Harry froze. The battle still raged on around him but he could move. Harry just stood there, petrified, staring at his former best friend's lifeless body. A shriek snapped him out of his daze as the Weasley family rushed over. Molly frantically started checking Ron for a pulse, a breath, an anything, while the others circled around her. Harry locked eyes with Draco for a split second before a spell was fired at him. He must've looked like a sitting duck because Ginny pulled him into a duel, tears had already filled her eyes. Harry spun around her, only deflecting her spells, never casting any of his own. When she didn't stop Harry knew that she wasn't going to give up, to her it must've looked as though he was mocking Ron's death instead of being shocked by it. Seeing a light from the corner of his eye Harry blocked a curse from hitting Ginny while casting his own curse at the arrour who sent it. Ginny noticed.
"It's me Gin. I don't want to fight you." Harry told her quietly, just so she could hear.
Ginny's eyes widened and a look of betrayal crossed her face. She sent one last jinx at Harry before leaving him alone. Harry let out a breath and started dancing around the battle, knocking down arours and helping out any Death Eaters that needed it. He briefly saw Ginny fall to the floor only to see her jump back up and continue fighting. Molly must've seen it too because she started screaming at her kids to get back into Grimuald place, but it was pointless. None of them even glanced at her, they continued fighting, wanting to get their revenge against Ron's murderer, to avenge their brother. Since they weren't all rounding in on him Harry had an idea that they didn't know it was him that sent the curse, Harry only knew for sure that two people saw him do it. More arours showed up and some Death Eaters began to fall. They kept fighting until Dumbledore showed up. Their goal was to attack the order and shake them up, they didn't need to be fighting Dumbledore and spill more of their own blood, so Voldemort gave the command to leave, everyone appertaining away.
The minute they got back to Riddle Manor Harry left the hall. He knew that his father had seen him cast the curse at Ron, there was no way he hadn't, and he didn't want to deal with it. If anyone found out about him being the one who killed Ron he'd lose everyone. The Weasleys would never forgive him, Hermione would be repulsed and shun him, Sirius and Remus would abandon him, Draco might even leave him. Unfortunately for Harry, his departure hadn't gone unnoticed, in fact, almost everyone noticed him since he practically burst out of the hall. Draco watched, worried, as Harry erupted out of the hall, the doors slamming behind him. Feeling a pair of eyes on him Draco looked up to see Voldemort looking at him. There was the ever so slightest bit of a nod and Draco took off after Harry.
"Harry!" Draco called to the teen in front of him when they were out of earshot from the Death Eaters gathered in the hall.
Harry heard him but he just kept walking, he didn't know where he was going, but he kept walking, turning every now and then. Harry couldn't shadow home, he couldn't face Hermione, or anyone for the matter yet. He turned into a room that must've been the library because it was filled with the ceiling with shelves full of books.
"Harry! Stop walking away!" Draco called out again.
Harry, knowing the boy was close behind, took off down one of the isles. He went through the library, finding a corner practically hidden from view. Sinking down Harry rested his head in his hands. He'd actually killed Ron. He'd cast the one curse that he had only learned to be able to kill Dumbledore. Why didn't that upset him at all?!
"Harry!"
Harry didn't look up, he knew that Draco was close but he didn't care.
