The roads are empty. No service to call family, No other cars. The only thing their was some trash and some of the dead. Me, Jacob, and Cleo have been driving for almost a day. Me and Jacob would alternate driving so the other could sleep. I feel so bad for Cleo. She never got to say goodbye to her friends. She was living a normal life. Then one day she was forced out of her normal living style. She was instantly scared for her life. I just keep thinking if I would have let her walk to school, she would have been dead. Their would have been no chance for survival with her. I keep mentally thanking my husband. If he wouldn't have said anything, Cleo the only person who can make my day, would be dead. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing it was partially my fault. I had Cleo at a pretty young age. I was 24. When I had her, me and Jacob were still in school.

"Shoot" I heard Jacob say. I was sleeping in the passenger seat. I looked behind me and saw Cleo sleeping in the back. "What's wrong I said reaching for my water bottle. Their wasn't much left but their was some. "We ran out of gas." Jacob said. I knew we were going to have to walk from here on out. "Cleo. Cleo wake up" I said slightly shaking her awake. She slowly open her eyes. "We have to walk. Were out of gas" I said grabbing my backpack and putting it on my back. She got up and grabbed her bag. Then we started the walk into the forest. Every now and then we would come across one of the dead. Me and Jacob would take turns taking them out. I didn't like the idea of Cleo getting close to any of them, at least not yet. We walked for about another hour until we saw a small camp. We walked out with our knife's in hand. We didn't have any guns so we weren't a major threat. I mean we weren't a threat at all. They didn't even bother to check us. With how broken we looked they knew we were not a threat. "Hi my name is Rick. We don't really have a leader of this group. We all decide on our decisions. Can I get your name's please." He said looking at the three of us. Cleo was gripping my hand, tight. "My name is Jacob. This is my wife Kass, And our daughter Cleo" Jacob said motioning to us while still looking around the camp. "Nice to meet you. You are welcome to stay. You can be apart of the group if you would like. Everyone is here right now except Daryl. He is out on a hunt and won't be back till tomorrow morning sometime. Make your self at home." Rick said as he looked at me and Cleo. They provided us with a tent and some cots so we could sleep. "As far as I could tell the camp looks secure. I mean hell they have other children. Cleo could have a life here." I looked over at our daughter and nodded my head. "Cleo come with me. We are going to go met some new kids. They can be friends with you." I said as I led Cleo out of the tent. "Hi you must be Kass right. I'm Lori, Rick's wife" Lori said with a smile. "Yea that's me. This is my daughter Cleo." I said pushing her in front of me a little. "Nice to meet you Cleo. Hey Carl, Sophia come here real quick." She yelled over to two kids playing in the dirt. "This is my son Carl and Carol's daughter Sophia. Guys this is Cleo. She is new here take her over to play with you guys." Lori said. "Ok mom. Come on Cleo" Carl said. Cleo looked at me and I nodded. She ran off and played with the kids. "Come on lets introduce you to the others" Lori said leading me to a group of women. "The one with short grey hair is Sophia's mom Carol, the one with the blonde hair in a bun is Andrea, the one with straight blonde hair is Amy, and the one with black hair is Jacquie." She said motioning to each one. "Nice to meet all of you. My name's Kass" I said. "What did you do before everything Kass." Andrea said. "Oh I had just became a lawyer" I answered. I have never been good at meeting new people. It was one downfall of being a lawyer. "Really, so was I" Andrea said as she seemed more interested in the conversation now. "Yea, I was just starting." I said turning around to see if Cleo was alright. "How old are you" Amy asked. "I'm 24" I responded fairly quickly. "Wow, you must have had the girl when you were pretty young then" Amy said looking over at Cleo. "Yea. I had her when me and my husband were still in high school" I said looking around. "Well it was nice to meet you" Carol said as I walked away. It was getting late and I was exhausted. "Cleo, time for bed sweetie" I said as I walked into the tent. Cleo had her own cot while me and Jacob shared one. It wasn't long before we were all fast asleep.
