We Will Survive Together

Chapter 48: They have two of our people now.

Daryl's POV: 

Me and Carol were getting ready to head back to the church when another car drove by. It was similar to the one who took Kaley. In fact it was the same car. "Damn" I said and took my crossbow and hit out the lights of the car we found. "What are you doing" Carol yelled out. "They have Kaley" I said and got in the car. Carol did the same and we followed the car. We followed the car all the way back to Atlanta. We stayed far behind. However when we stopped once the car wouldn't start back up again. "Damn it" I said hitting the steering wheel. "Well now we know they are in Atlanta." Carol said. "Yeah" I said. Then a walker was on Carol's side. The other car drove away and we took out the walker. "Should we get back" Carol said. "Nah not yet. We would have to walk not in the dark" I said. I got out and killed the walker. I nodded my head and we walked towards the nearest building. Carol seemed to know this place cause she led me straight to a small room with bunk beds. "Me and Sophia stayed here once while Ed was having a phase" she said sitting on the bed. I looked on the nightstand and there was a book titled what to do if your husband is hitting your daughter. I looked at her but didn't think to much. "I got watch" I said. "You don't need to" Carol said. "Nah it's fine" I said leaving the room. I came across two walkers. One was a kid and I was guessing the kids mother. I took them out and went back to the room. I saw Carol was sleeping so I sat on the floor across the room. I leaned my head back. I felt bad for leaving without telling Kass where I was but I knew she would understand. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke up when I heard Carol moving. "Sorry" she said. "Nah its fine needed to get up anyway" I said standing up. I grabbed my crossbow and we went in the direction of the car. We came across some walkers in the street but we needed to get across. Carol took out some paper and a lighter. She held them out to me. I set the paper in fire. I chucked them as far as I could and all the walkers went for the fire and me and Carol ran across the street. We got into the parking garage and went upstairs. We got to the floor we needed and there were tents in the hallway. We avoided the tents and went through the next doors. This was a little more difficult because they were chained shut. We walked around grabbing anything we could. "After this we should head back" Carol said. "Why I am doing this for Kass" I said taking a drink of my water. She seemed to be annoyed by that thought. I didn't think to much of it. But I did want to say something about how Carol said finding me was a waste of time. "We should get going keep moving" She said. She started back towards the chained doors. She got through. "Daryl be careful" She said stopping. I got through and saw a kids with a gun. "Put your weapons down and slid them over. I don't want to hurt you. You can keep your knives." he said. "Who are you" Carol said putting her gun down. I put my crossbow down and Carol slid them both over. "Noah. It doesn't matter though. I'm sorry" he said then he cut open the tents. The walkers spilled out and me and Carol easily took them out. "Come on" I said and we made our way out. The kid had already left. We started to run to find another building we were being followed by a dozen of walkers. We found a van hanging off the edge of the highway. It had the same cross on it. We jumped in and got in the front. "Hang on" I said. The van slowly tipped over and fell. 

We both stepped out of the van and continued on. We came across another building. We heard screams and Carol went after them and I followed her. We saw Noah under a book shelf with a walker snapping at him. "Nah" I said walking away. "Daryl" Carol yelled. "He tried to kill you" I yelled out. "But he didn't" Carol said. "Please I'm sorry" Noah cried out. I grabbed my bow and her gun. I handed her the gun and walked away. I looked back to Carol trying to help him. With an arrow I took down the walker. "Thank you" Noah said. "We need to go there coming." Noah said. "Who" I said. The people I got away. We need to get her out." Noah said. "Who what is going on."  I said trying to piece together what he was saying. "She helped me get out she said something about getting separated from her sisters boyfriend" Noah said. "Kaley" I said. "You know her" he said. "I'm her sister's boyfriend." I said. "There here" Carol said looking out the window. We started to run. Carol was ahead of us. She ran outside. By the time I looked over she got hit by the car. I tried to run. "No if you go out there we can not get her help and she will die" Noah said grabbing me. I watched them put Carol on the stretcher. "We can get her and Kaley back" he said. I nodded and we ran the other direction. We found a car and drove back towards the church. When we got there Michonne was sitting outside. "Your back" she said. I nodded. "Come on" I said. Noah walked out and Michonne gave me a weird look. "He knows where Kaley is. They have Carol now to." I said. She nodded. All three of us walked in. I didn't see Kass or anything that was hers. Then I noticed Beth, Maggie, Glenn, Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene were gone to. "Where is Kass" I asked looking at Rick. "She went with them to D.C. We wanted to wait for you to get back." Rick said. "We need to get Kaley back." I said. I explained to everyone where she was. "Ok that's the plan" Rick said after explaining everything. I nodded and went to where me and Kass were going to sleep.
