Chapter 64: It all went wrong

I woke up the next morning to Daryl kissing my forehead. "Sorry didn't mean to wake you up. But were heading out for the dry run" Daryl said. "Ok. Please be careful" I said barely able to open my eyes. "I promise. I will be back in no time. It's just a dry run babe" he said. I nodded but was still basically asleep. I felt him kiss me once again and heard him leave. 

I woke up again a few hours later. I looked at my alarm clock and it was 9. I knew they had to have be getting back soon cause they left at 5. I got dressed and went outside. I saw Maggie and she looked a little worried. "Hey. Do you know how long till the dry run" I asked. "Yeah when they got there the trucks fell. Its the real deal now. Might not be back for a while" she said. My heart sank. Everything was supposed to go according to plan. And now I didn't even know if he would be coming back. I walked away accepting it until I heard a scream. I took out my pistol and saw someone on watch fall over the tower on fire. I looked around and saw people running around with W's on there forehead killing anyone in their path. I stay down and tried to use my knife. As I was taking one down I heard a gunshot behind me. I looked and saw Carl killed one that was about to kill me. "Is Judith ok" I asked. "Yeah so is Enid" he said. "Good. Get back to them" I said running behind some houses. I took out my gun and shot anyone I didn't know. It was going well and I heard more shots coming from the guard tower. Suddenly there was a loud crash and a semi truck horn. I ran out the gate to see what had happened and saw someone dead in the front seat of a truck. I pulled him out of the seat and let Spencer out. Deanna and Maggie came out soon later and Deanna got in the truck. Spencer was to stay and keep her safe. Me, Morgan, and Maggie ran back inside to try to help. I saw Holly get hit and shot the man. I carried her to infirmary were our new doctor Denise was. Tara Eugene and some others were also there. "Holly" Denis yelled out as I brought her in. "She got stabbed in the side. I can't stay though" I said sitting her down. "What" Eric said. "Aaron is safe. He is with Rosita. I need to make sue Jessie and her kids are safe along with Carl and Judith" I said going to the door. "Be careful" Tara yelled back. "I will" I said before running back outside. I saw one of them go into Jessies house. I sprinted in and tried to find it. I was walking through until I heard something behind me. I spun around and she took her knife and slashed my arm. "Ah" I screamed out as I fell back. "Kass" Jessie yelled as she pushed the woman off of me. I watched Jessie take her out with a pair of scissors. I was holding my arm and saw Ron walk in. "Were you at Carl's" I asked. He glared at me for a second before looking away. "Carl is ok. He is there with Enid" he said walking away. I nodded and got up. "Kass we need to get you to the infirmary." Jessie said. "I will check Carl" she said next. I nodded and took out my pistol. I began walking to the infirmary and only had to take down two of them. I walked in and Tara was the first to see me. "How is Holly" I said still holding my arm. "She didn't make it. What happened" she asked. "Knife wound. Not to bad" I said. Denis walked over and quickly bandaged my arm. "I need to go get Carl" I said. "Are you sure" Eugene said. I nodded and left. There were no more of them in the streets. I passed Rosita who was covered in blood. "You ok" she said looking at my arm. "Yeah. It will heal up fine" I said continuing to walk. I finally made it to Rick's house and Carol was sitting outside. "You ok" I asked. "Yeah. I'm fine" she said. I nodded and walked inside. Carl was standing there with a gun aimed right at me. "Sorry I thought" he said hugging me. "Your ok. There gone. All of them" I said. "Enid left" he said grabbing a piece of paper. "Left. What do you mean left" I said taking the paper. All it said was 'Just Survive Somehow'. "She just left. I went to check on Judith and came back and she was gone" he said. I nodded and looked around. "What happened to your arm" he said looking at the bandage. "got clipped by a knife" I simply said. "You stay here. I am going to start clearing the bodies." I said walking towards the door. "Kass. Daryl is going to be fine. I can tell your worried. The way you keep looking around. He is Daryl. He is gonna come back" Carl said causing me to stop. I turned and nodded. "I hope" I said leaving. There were already people outside dragging the bodies of people we lost to graves and the one's who attacked us to be burned. I helped but it was already mostly done. I had no idea how to feel about everything. Suddenly I heard a scream. "Open the gate Now". It sounded like Rick. I sprinted over there and saw him run in with at least a thousand walkers behind him. No sign of Daryl. I thought he was supposed to be leading them away. Rick saw my concerned face. "This is only half of them. Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha are still leading the other half away. They broke off to a horn and by the truck outside I am guessing that was it. Glenn and Michonne are leading the attack team back. They will be ok as well. We are going to deal with this and our people will walk through those gates" Rick said. I nodded as I saw Aaron walk forward. "The people who attacked this place. They found us because of me. When me and Daryl were out looking for people we got surrounded by a small herd of walkers. I dropped my pack of pictures and they must have figured out where to go. People died today because of me" he said. Daryl never told me about being surrounded. At least if he did it was when I was breaking down after Reg and Pete. I had no idea how we were going to deal with this. Or how Daryl was going to get back
