Chapter 16: It's both of us or neither of us.

I was still holding on to my sister. I pulled away and noticed everyone staring at us. "Oh sorry guys. This is my sister Kaley" I said as I looked at everyone. I noticed Daryl's look was the one with the most confusion. "She can't stay" Shane said. "Well too damn bad" I said looking over at him. "We can't keep taking in strangers Rick" Shane said looking at the shed. "She isn't a stranger she is my sister and I know damn well she wouldn't do any harm to anyone." I said staring him down. "No no way" Shane said. "Fine if she can't stay then I won't. We were separated once I ain't about to let that happen again." I said grabbing her hand. "Fine have fun on your own you two" Shane said before turning around to walk away. I took out my gun and started to move forward. That was before Daryl ran in front of me. "Hey neither of you are going anywhere. I won't let that happen. And if you do leave then I will come with you. Just put the gun away" Daryl said grabbing my arm. I looked at him before holstering my weapon. "They are both staying" Rick said. "Really Rick. We don't know her" Shane yelled. "Just giving you a heads up. If they leave I leave" Daryl said turning to Shane. "Daryl they can protect themselves they don't need your help." Shane said getting in his face. "I suggest you back up and shut your damn mouth before something happens" Daryl said resting his hand on his knife. "Well if they were separated once then it was probably for a good reason" Shane said as he walked away. I grabbed my gun and aimed it at him. Daryl hit the gun out of my hand as I shot it. The bullet went off in some direction. Shane was walking over to me with his gun out. "Daryl get out of my way" He said as he aimed his gun at me. "No" Daryl said still standing over me. "Shane enough. Kass and Kaley are staying final answer" Rick said helping me up. Daryl grabbed my gun and handed it to me. I took the gun and put it in my holster. "Come on their are more tents back here" I said as I walked to the shed. I grabbed one and handed it to her. "Thank you" Kaley said taking the tent. "I think their is an open spot over here" I said leading her to an open space. "My tent is right over their if you ever need anything" I said looking at her. "Thanks again and hey where is Jacob and your kid. You were pregnant when everything went down with mom and dad" Kaley said looking around. "They are uh gone. I named my daughter Cleo" I said looking at her and smiling. "You didn't have to name her after my girlfriend" Kaley said grabbing my shoulder. "I know but she stopped you from killing yourself. At that time you two and Jacob were all I had" I said smiling. "What happened" Kaley said letting go of me. "When I first came into contact with these guys Cleo was with us. Then about a month later walkers found us and I was getting wood with Daryl the one who stopped me for killing Shane back their. Anyway Cleo got bit. Then Jacob got all pissed at me for it then started hitting me. Daryl defended me. He ran at me while the group was deciding what to do and I pulled out my machete. It was a reaction. I didn't mean to kill him" I said looking down. "My god" Kaley said getting teared up. "What about mom and dad" Kaley asked looking around. "I never got the chance to try to find them." I said looking back up. "What about your Cleo" I asked. "She got bit a month or so ago" Kaley said looking down. "I'm sorry" I said grabbing her shoulder this time. "Hey I'm going to get some sleep. I haven't been able to" Kaley said looking at her tent. "Ok see you later" I said walking away. It was getting pretty late but I wasn't tired. I walked over to the barn and climbed to the top on a later. I didn't have a reason to it just seemed calm. I sat in a corner looking at the sunset. I lost myself before I heard someone coming up the later. It was Daryl. "Hey why you up here" He said as he sat by me. "I don't know. I wasn't tired and saw the barn so thought I would sit up here" I said still looking out at the sky. "You never told me you had a sister" Daryl said looking at me. "I thought she was dead. I know I can talk about Cleo but Kaley was the one thing that kept me alive." I said looking at Daryl. "What do you mean" Daryl said still looking at me. "My mom and dad were very defiant at a young age. Similar to how I was. Well they never paid any attention to either of us. We fed our selves and had to get our own jobs to help pay the rent. It was like we were guests in our own home. Well at one point I guess I got fed up with it. This was about a month before me and Jacob first started to date. I got close. Kaley stopped me. But a few weeks later she told me that she was a lesbian. She was terrified to tell our parents. One day she worked up the courage to. Mainly because her girlfriend got kicked out of her house because of her sexuality and she needed a place to stay. My parents flipped out. They kicked her out. I never saw her again. We texted each other but we never saw each other. I was pregnant because before me and Jacob got together we weren't doing the best things. That's how Cleo got her name." I said holding back tears. One accidently fell causing a chain reaction. I felt like Daryl could sense that I was crying because he grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. We stayed like this for a minute before I pulled away. I wiped my tears with my sleeve and looked out at the now dark sky. "Hey I'm going to go to bed" I said wiping the last tear away. Ok Daryl said standing up. He reached out his hand to help me up. He kissed me once on the lips making me smile again. I turned and walked out of the barn. I made my way to my tent and almost immediately fell asleep. I couldn't believe that I got my sister back.
