Chapter 12: Secrets

I woke up the same way I always did. The sound of people moving around and starting their day. I got dressed and put on my boots. I walked out of my tent and Lori was instantly walking towards me. "Listen I know it is a lot to ask but can you make another run back out to that store. I would send you with Glenn and Maggie but I think their is something going on with them and their not going today" Lori said talking quietly so now one would here. "Yeah I'll go right now" I said grabbing here shoulder. "Thank you so much. Here" Lori said handing me a piece of folded up paper. I took the paper and read it. The paper only consisted of one item. That one item was abortion pills. "Are you sure" I said putting the paper in my pocket. "I think so. If I decide not to take them I will get rid of them but if the baby is Shane's I don't want that constant reminder that I slept with my husbands best friend" Lori said looking back at Rick and Shane. "Ok and hey don't overthink the Shane situation. Anyone could have made that mistake. I mean you even said you thought Rick was dead. Just don't overthink it" I said looking straight at her. She nodded her head and hugged me. I hugged her back until she pulled away. "Thank you so much Kass" She said before walking away. I grabbed my holster and gun and walked over to Shane. "Hey I'm making a short run into the town. Anything you need" I said holstering my gun. "Uh if you find anything we could use for target practice or any medical supplies for Hershel you could try to grab that" Shane said while cleaning the guns. "Ok" I said walking away. I went back to my tent. I grabbed my bag and left the tent. "Hey Kass" I heard Patricia yell. "Hey what's up" I said turning around. "I know your getting ready to go but Daryl want's to talk to you before you go" Patricia said motioning to the house. "Ok" I said walking to the house. Once I got their I heard Glenn and Maggie whispering about something but I couldn't tell what it was about. I walked up to Daryl's room and walked in. "Patricia said you wanted to talk to me" I said standing in the entrance of his room. "Where you going" he said looking at me. "I'm going on a run to get a few things" I answered still looking at him. "Need any help" He said trying to get up. "No. You were just injured. We don't need you getting even more hurt" I said looking around the room. "Hershel said I can get out tomorrow." He said still trying to convince me. " Well that's tomorrow. Today is today and today you are injured" I said laughing. "Fine" Daryl said laughing at me. I walked out of the room and headed to a car. I started the 10 minute drive to the small store we went last time. I walked in making sure I wouldn't have a close call like Maggie did. I had brought the one bag and planned on putting the pills in my pocket. I heard some rustling in the back of the store and quickly dropped behind one of the shelfs. I took out my gun and made sure the safety was off. I stayed down before I saw the light of a flashlight. "Hello" I heard the voice of a man say. I shot up and aimed my gun at him. "Put all your weapons on the counter and back away" I said slowly moving my finger to the trigger. "Wow a feisty little girl" the man said turning his flashlight off. "Just do what I say and maybe I won't kill you" I said still holding my gun up at the man. "Fine sunshine you win" the man said. He slowly sat his flashlight on the counter. He took his knife out of the holster and sat it on the counter as well. He took off his belt which had the holster on it and also sat it on the counter. He looked at me then smiled. Then in one swift movement he reached behind him and grabbed his gun. He shot in my direction. I fell to the floor. "The tables have turned. Slide your gun out" The man said from a short distance. I saw that I had my machete sitting on the shelf. He didn't know I had it. I slid my gun out to make him think I wasn't a threat. "Good girl. Now I'm going to take it. And maybe I won't kill you" The man said laughing. I slowly crawled to the other side of the shelf while he walked over to get the gun. I grabbed the machete and slowly stood up. I ran up behind him and stabbed him in the back. "Agh" he yelled out in pain. He fell to the floor still trying to fight me off. I stabbed him in the head so he wouldn't turn. I fell back and sat against the wall. I was breathing faster than normal. I then realized their could be more of them back their. I grabbed my gun and made my way to a back room. Their were bags of food and a few guns. I grabbed the everything and started to bring everything out to the car. I also grabbed the mans guns and flashlight and put them in their. I went into the pharmacy and grabbed the little left over medicine their was. I found Lori's pills and put them in my back pocket. I found some cans to use for target practice. I got in the car and sat their for a minute. That bullet hit just behind me. If I would have moved a second later I may not be going back their. I started the car and drove back to the camp. I knew their were going to be questions considering the blood all over me. 

I got back to the farm and parked the car. I saw Daryl standing their with his bow talking to Dale. I got out of the car. "Oh my god are you ok" Andrea said running over to me. Everyone stopped what they were doing and walked over to me. "Yeah their was a guy at the store. Close call" I said looking at everyone. I walked back to my tent and could feel someone following me. "Hey" I heard Daryl say. "I'm fine" I said walking into my tent. Daryl followed me. "What's in your pocket" he said. I knew he saw the pill package. "It's nothing" I said turning around. Daryl then came up behind me and took the package out of my pocket. I turned around to him staring at me. "Your pregnant" he said. "No" I said grabbing the package out of his hand. "Then why do you have them." he said still looking at me. "Because Lori is" I said putting them back in my pocket. "And your telling me that Rick wouldn't want her to have the baby" Daryl said not taking his eyes off me. "I wasn't supposed to tell anyone but the baby isn't his. It's Shane's. And nobody else knows so keep this to yourself until Lori decides what to do. Please" I said walking up to him. "Ok" Daryl said walking out of the tent. I took a deep breath. Lori walked in. "Are you sure your ok" Lori said. "Yeah I'm fine" I said smiling. "Here" I said handing her the pills. "Thank you so much Kass" Lori said taking the pills. I nodded and sat down on my sleeping bag. Lori left the tent and I laid back. It wasn't long before I fell asleep.
