Chapter 65: Words of Fear

I walked back home and had no idea how to react to the fact that Daryl was still out there. I wanted him back because I was terrified that he was already dead. I was pissed. I heard a knock on my door and it was Maggie. "Hey" I said letting her in. "How ya doing" she asked. "fine" I said not reacting to much. "Michonne, Heath, and Scott are back. Two are dead and Nicholas and Glenn are still out there. Michonne said Glenn would give a signal to let me know he was ok." she said. I "Hmm" I simply hummed still pissed about Daryl being out there. "Are you sure your ok" she asked again. "Yeah Maggie. I'm great. My husband is out there with more than a thousand walkers right behind him and I have no way to talk to him. You get to wait for a signal I don't. Daryl isn't going to give me no signal. He could be dead right now and this morning could have been the last time I see him. He could be in the herd right now and your husband is probably on his way back right now as we speak. So yeah Maggie I'm fine" I said. I turned to walk away and tripped over a bag. It was Kaley's old bag that I never went through. I saw the stripes of her flag and took the flag out. "You haven't got rid of it yet" Maggie asked. "Maggie can you please leave" I said looking intently at the flag. I heard the door open and shut. Tears flooded my eyes and I brought the flag upstairs. I put it in my drawer of my night stand. I hated the thought of screaming at Maggie like I did but I couldn't control my emotions. I felt bad but I wasn't wrong. She also slightly pissed me off when she asked why I haven't got rid of the flag yet. I took a few breaths before deciding to go for a walk. 

While I was walking I saw Maggie. I looked away not wanting to say anything yet. I also saw Rick on one of the watch towers. I decided to go up there to and look around. "Hey Kass" he said. "Hey" I said trying to hide the break in my voice. "He is gonna be back" Rick said. I nodded and closed my eyes. "You shouldn't worry about him. He is Daryl. Did he say he would come back" he asked. "Yeah" I said. "Then he will. Daryl is a man of his word" Rick said. I nodded and looked around. "I need to get back to Carl and Judith. You can stay up here as long as you want" he said hugging me. I hugged him back until he pulled away. I nodded as he climbed down the ladder. I looked over the wall at tall the walkers trying to get inside our home. After a few minutes I sat down. I closed my eyes and didn't realize when I fell asleep. 

I woke up to the sound of a scream. I looked over and saw Rick saving Deanna from a walker. I quickly calmed down and decided to walk back home. It was slow but I got there. I hated crawling into that bed alone for the first time. I hated the feeling but I was hoping he would be back the next morning. 

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I turned it off and sat up. I looked over and instantly remembered he was still out there. I walked outside after getting dressed and saw Rick and Tobin in the distance adding some more support to the walls. All I wanted was to see Daryl come out from one the houses but he never did. I saw Maggie on one of the watch towers and decided to go talk to her. I climbed up the ladder. "Hey Maggie" I said. "Hey Kass" she said. "I wanted to say sorry for yelling yesterday. I was already upset and it was a lot to take in" I said. "It's ok. I understand. If I was in your position I probable would have done the same" she said. I nodded and hugged her. She hugged me back and it felt like a relief to have one of my best friends back. 

Walking around I had no idea what I wanted to do. I thought that he would be back tomorrow. I heard yelling and ran over to see what was going on. Spencer was trying to get across the herd but the line broke. They had gotten him back over by the time I got there. "Tara what the hell where you doing" Rick yelled. I was confused but decided to stay out of it and walk away. I didn't care about Spencer that much to want to ask if he was alright. 

It was maybe 4 and I was just walking when I heard something fall. I looked over and saw more boards from the guardtower fall. The whole tower just started to fall right into the wall taking the wall down with it. And leaving a wide open gate way for the walkers to get in.
