Chapter 57: Freedom or Hospitality

Me and Daryl walked back to the house. Mostly everyone was asleep except Carl who gave us a weird a look as we walked in. I smiled at him and went to were me and Daryl were sleeping. I laid down and he laid next to me. It wasn't long before I fell asleep. It had been a long time since I got a good nights sleep so it was worth it. 

I woke up to Judith crying. I looked over and there were still people sleeping. "Sorry tried to keep her quiet" Rick said picking up Judith. "It's fine" I said as I sat up. He looked down at my hand and noticed the ring. "Daryl did he-" he said motioning to my hand. I smiled. "Yeah last night he asked the question. Well the best he could he is really awkward" I said laughing. Rick laughed in response. "Well good for you two" he said still smiling. "Thank you" I said as I watched him walk out of the room with Judith. I sat there for a second before looking down at Daryl. I couldn't help but smile. I loved him so much. I heard more and more people wake up. I grabbed my knife and gun and put them on my belt. I went outside and sat on the porch. I watched the people walk past and couldn't help but think of Kaley. All she wanted in life was a place like this. Where she could be accepted for who she is. Tears came to my eyes and a few fell. I heard someone walk outside and saw Daryl. "You alright" he said coming up next to me and putting his hand on my back. "Yeah its just.. Kaley would have loved this place" I said looking down. More tears fell and he wrapped an arm around me. "I know she would have" he said quietly. I wiped my tears and he hugged me. "I love you baby" he said into my ear. "I love you to" I said. He pulled away after a minute and just looked at me. I leaned forward and kissed him. He kissed me back and put a hand on my waist. After a few seconds I pulled away and looked into his eyes. "Gross" I heard Carl say behind us. I turned around and laughed. Carl smiled and walked over to the next door house. I figured Rick sent him. "I see you are awake already" Deanna said suddenly. "Most of us" I answered. "Well tell your group that tonight you are all invited to my house for dinner." she said. I looked over at Daryl. "There is nice clothes in the closets help your self" she said walking away. "Thank you" I called out and glanced back at Daryl. I slowly started to grin. "No no way" he said shaking his head. "Come one I haven't seen you in something other than that since we met" I joked. "Not going to happen" He said standing up. I grabbed his hand. "To bad" I said standing up to his level. "I don't do the dressing up stuff" He said grabbing my waist. "Neither do I. Please" I said again. "Fine" he said reluctantly. "Thank you" I said kissing him once again on the lips. He kissed back. "Why is it every time I walk past I see this" Carl joked. I laughed and pulled away from Daryl. "What did you find in there" I asked turning to face him. "Nothing interesting" he said glancing back at the house. I nodded and looked over to him. "Kass. Can I talk to you for a minute" Deanna said walking back up to us. "Yeah sure" I said walking over to hear. I followed her to her house and she brought me to a room with more people. "Guys this is Kass. Kass this is my husband Reg and my two sons Aiden and Spencer" she said sitting on the couch. "Nice to meet you" Reg said looking up from his notebook. "Nice to meet you to" I said sitting down in a chair. "So I brought you hear because you have an option. You can either go on runs with Aiden, Nickolas, Tara, Noah, and Glenn. Or you can help with watch with Spencer" she said looking at me. "Your choice" Deanna said next. I looked at both sons for a minute before deciding I would like to go on runs more then stand behind the gate's. "I would like to go on runs" I said looking over to Deanna. "Alright" she said nodding over to Reg who wrote it down. "That is all thank you" she said leading me out. I walked back to the house and already noticed people moving around. "We are spreading into both houses" Daryl said coming up behind me. "Oh that's good. I think this place will be good" I said turning around. "So do I" he said a little quieter. "Hey Kass can I talk to you about something" Carl said looking nervous. "Yeah sure" I said walking towards him. "Ill be right back" I said looking back at Daryl he nodded and walked back into the house. Carl lead me to a pond and sat on a bench. "So what's up kid" I said sitting next to him. "So your sister she liked girls?" he asked suddenly. "Yeah she was a lesbian" I said looking over to him. He looked confused but nodded. "You do know what LGBT is right" I said giggling a little. "Not really. Other then Gay" he said getting fidgety. I nodded and was wondering why he was acting strange. "Are you ok" I asked placing a hand on his shoulder. "What does it mean if you are attracted to girls and guys at the same time" he said looking up to me. I started to process everything and was starting to understand where he was coming from. "That means your Bisexual" I said smiling. "Are you Bisexual" Carl asked suddenly. "No if I considered my self anything it would be Pansexual" I said nodding. "What's that one" he asked. "That means that gender really doesn't bother you. You like someone for there personality" I said still waiting for him to say more. He nodded and became more fidgety. "I think I'm Bisexual" he said looking down. "What makes you say that" I said smiling. "My dad met a girl named Jessie. She has to kids. Ron is my age and Sam is the youngest. Well I went over there and I met Ron, his friend Mikey, and a girl named Enid. I don't know I just was attracted to all three of them honestly" he said looking over to where his dad is. "I figured you would be the best person to tell because your sister was a lesbian" he said still looking nervous or scared. "Hey listen, it's alright. I watched you grow up. I love you no matter what and I obviously support you" I said rubbing his back. He obviously looked relieved. "Does your dad know" I asked then. "No not yet" he said quick. "Ok. Your old enough to figure out when to tell him so that's on you" I said smiling. "Thank you Kass" Carl said standing up. I stood up as well. "No problem kid" I said hugging him. I could feel that he was relieved. After a few seconds he pulled away. "Thank you for understanding" he said really excited. "Always. Hey I am always here for you" I said grabbing his shoulder. He smiled and nodded before walking off. I sat back on the bench and smiled looking over the water. I heard someone coming and saw Daryl standing there. He sat down and seemed confused. "Why do you look overly happy." Daryl said placing one hand on my thigh. "Carl" I said smiling. "What did he do" Daryl asked looking over to him. "He just told me that he was Bisexual" I said leaning my head on his shoulder. "That's cool" Daryl said looking down at me. I smiled but then something randomly came to mind. Daryl instantly knew something was up. "You good" he said suddenly. "Yeah just thinking" I responded. "About what" he fired back. "Do you think we will ever have kids" I said not taking my eyes off the water. He seemed to slightly tense up and was clearly thinking about it. "I hope one day yeah" he said. I nodded and sat up. I looked over and saw Aiden coming. "I need anyone who will be going on runs to come with me please" he said. I kissed Daryl before walking towards them. "So Glenn, Tara, Noah, and Kass right" Aiden said pointing at each of us. We nodded and waited for further instructions. "Alright so this is just a dry run. Get you guys used to what we do out there. "Alright" Glenn said as we followed Aiden and Nicholas out the gates. They led us into the woods. "We have a pregame ritual. One of those things killed one of us on a run. Strung him up somewhere over here" Nicholas explained. "You what" I said looking around. "Yeah. Just taunt it a little" Aiden said after words. I glanced over to Glenn and he was clearly thinking the same thing. "Son of a bitch" Aiden said when we approached a tree that had bloody chains but no walker. "Help me find it" he said looking around. All the sudden they started whistling. "Hey it's gone" Glenn said trying to get them to quiet down. I turned around and there it was. I grabbed it and was struggling to push it away. "Don't kill it. Help me tie it up" Aiden said. However if we didn't kill it soon I would be killed. Glenn knew that and stabbed the walker. "What the hell" Aiden yelled out. "Yeah what the hell" I said panting. Tara and Noah came up to my side to check on me. "I told you not to kill it. I told you" Aiden said walking over to Glenn. Glenn backed away and we all walked back to Alexandria. "You all need new gigs. You don't know how to handle yourselves out there" Aiden yelled as we all entered Alexandria. "Yeah pretty sure you got that backwards." Glenn responded. I saw Daryl walking over and so was most of the group. "Hey what did you say to me" Aiden said turning Glenn around. "No one's impressed man. Walk away" Glenn responded. "Aiden what is going on here" Deanna said walking up. "These people don't like the way we do things" he said before taking a pause. "Why the hell did you let these people in" he said looking at his mother. "Because we actually know what were doing" Glenn fired back. Aiden turned and tried to punch Glenn. However Glenn ducked and was able to knock him on his ass. I heard someone fall and saw Daryl tackle Nicholas. Rick came up and before we knew it everything was sorted out. Deanna was to speak with Aiden and Nicholas. "Thank you" Deanna said walking up to Glenn. "For what" he said confused. "For knocking him on his ass" she said looking over to her son who was walking home. She started to follow him and I knew that we had about an hour to get ready for this dinner thing at her house. I started to walk back and Daryl followed me. "So what all happened out there" he said coming up behind me. "The hung  a walker in a tree. All because it took out one of there friends. Almost got me killed because they didn't want to kill the damn thing. We still did" I said looking down. "I am going to beat there ass" he said looking around. "Daryl please don't. I mean we all have coping ways" I said grabbing his arm and stopping. He nodded and looked down at me. I kissed him on the lips and continued to walk. "Are you sure I have to go to this thing" he said reluctantly. "Yep no other option" I joked and glanced over to him. "Ugh" he scoffed and grabbed my hand. I smiled and we interlocked our fingers.
