Chapter 38: They are out here somewhere

A/n: This chapter will be wrote primarily in Daryl's POV instead of Kass. I want there to be the same concept between Daryl and Kaley as there was Daryl and Beth in season 4. So it will most likely the next couple chapter be about the other characters and where they went after the prison fall. Thank you ~Airamee

Daryl's POV:

After telling Kass that I would find her she ran off. We were all still fighting off the Governor and his new group. Walkers had made there way in. The tank was getting closer and closer to the fence. Maggie had went in to get Glenn and Beth went to find the kids. I turned and saw Kaley showing Lizzie and Mika how to shoot. She then took the gun back from Mika and Mika grabbed Judith. I turned back to shoot and saw walkers coming at me. I grabbed one and used it as a shield to the people shooting at me. Then they were dead. Kass and Lizzie took them out. The tank had broke through the next part of the fence. I grabbed a grenade and threw it down the barrel. The man jumped out and I took him out with an arrow. After retrieving it I saw Kass running towards Tyreese. Then Kaley ran up to me. "No one is left in the prison and I can't find Kass" she said out of breath. "We need to go she got out" I said as I looked one last time for any other survivors. Kaley nodded and we ran. I knew Kass got out I just needed to find her. 

We ran and we ran. We didn't stop. We got far away from the prison before finding a clearing. We both collapsed to the floor and tried to catch out breath. "We can set up camp here" Kaley said getting up. I sat up and nodded. We grabbed some fire wood and started to set up our camp for the night. Beth had a bag with her and after we were done she went threw it. It was dark so the only light was from the fire. She pulled out a colored flag and sat it on the ground. Then the notebook. It was the notebook Kass wrote in. She read through it all and looked at me. "Have you seen this yet" she asked. "Yeah. When I left for a week it was on the floor of my cell. I took it and read it" I said looking at it. Then something fell out of her bag. She picked it up and read it. I saw the tears come to her eyes as she covered her mouth. "What is it" I asked walking over to her. I sat next to her and she handed me the paper. I was shocked at what it said:

Hello whoever is reading this, 

I am close to my breaking point. I just lost my daughter and my husband has turned on me. I hate it. This world. The only thing that is keeping me going is Daryl. I came close but Daryl stopped us. He got me out just in time. I still don't know what I want. 

Hi,

I haven't wrote in a while because things have finally started to turn around. But everything in my life changed again. I was taken by another group who didn't do the best things to me. I hate it so much right now.

After reading it I teared up a little. I flipped it over but nothing was written on the back. "She is out there still" Kaley said. I didn't say anything. "She has to be" she said again. I was still silent. "Are you not worried about her" Kaley asked standing up. "Of course I am. She is my girlfriend" I said standing up. "We need to find her she is out there" she said tearing up. "Her and Beth" Kaley said still tearing up. "We can start looking in the morning." I said sitting back down. She nodded and sat down. After a while she laid back and fell asleep. 

I woke up and Kaley was still sleeping. I sat there waiting for her to wake up. After close to an hour she did. "Get ready we can head out in 30 minutes" I said putting out the fire. She nodded and put everything back in her bag. Once we were ready we left the clearing. We walked for a while before coming across a river with a ledge. I held my hand back to tell her to stop. "I think they were here" I said examining the dirt. "How do you know" She asked. "Well if ain't them someone else but that looks like the print of a baby so it could be them" I said. She looked over my shoulder to try to see. "Looks liked they went this way" I said following the trail. Then the trail swerved off. One of them ran this way" I said turning. We got out of the forest then the tracks disappeared. There were dead bodies everywhere. We stood there for a minute before I heard crying. I turned to see Kaley. I looked at her and felt bad. They were separated once. "Come on" I said walking back into the woods. We walked for hours upon hours. Then there were a few walkers. We went to take them out but Kaley's foot got caught in a bear trap. I took out the few walkers and ran to help her. "You good" I said helping her up. "Yeah" she said holding her ankle. I helped her walk and we found a funeral home in the clearing. We walked to it and it was clear. We decided to stay here for a while to get things in order.
