Chapter 6: On the road again

After the CDC we decided we would try our luck and head towards Fort Benning. We fueled up some cars, enough so we all could go. Its been almost 6 months now with this new group of people. We lost people on the way. Jacquie died at the CDC, Jim was bit on the side and a day or so later died, Amy (Andrea's sister) was bit on the neck/arm, and then Cleo was killed to. Now their is Me, Rick, Lori, Carl, Carol, Sophia, Shane, Dale, Andrea, T-Dog, Glenn, and Daryl left. We were off to find the Fort and start are lives over. Jacob has been hitting me. A lot more then normal. He keeps blaming me for Cleo. Their is a small part of me where I want him to fail this world, but now that Cleo is gone he is the only thing I have. 

We have been driving for almost 2 hours. We got to a highway and their were evacuated cars every where. We tried to maneuver our way through all the cars. Then the RV's radiator hose broke. We were stranded out in a highway to look for supply's. "Carl, stay within my sight ok hun" I heard Lori say. "You to Sophia" Carol responded. The two children just nodded and looked around. I wanted to turn around to say something to Cleo but then I remembered that she was gone. I didn't make it obvious that I forgot for a second. We continued to walk around. "Lori, Carol, Kass get under the cars" Rick whispered but also yelled. "Carl, Sophia get down now" He said motioning under the cars. We all listened. Rick shortly got under a car to. I was really confused and took my knife out to be safe. Not even a minute later I heard the groans, and lots of them. At least 50 walkers were passing by. I had no idea where Jacob was but I know if we were next to each other he would push me out of the car as "revenge" for getting Cleo killed. I was really worried for Carl and Sophia. One cry that was a little to loud would set the walkers off and they would die. I didn't want Carol or Lori to go threw the pain I go through every day. After what seemed like and hour the walkers were finally clear. Nobody moved for a second. Sophia started to crawl out from underneath the car. However next to her were two more walkers. She yelped out of surprise and started to panic. She got out from under the car and ran off into the woods. Rick, with out hesitation, shot out from under the car and went after her. We were all now at the edge of the woods waiting for Sophia. I went over to Carol and started to comfort her. I understood the pain of being separated from your daughter and I knew it was killing her inside. We all sat their for about 30 minutes until Rick came back, except he was alone. Sophia hadn't made her way back to the group meaning she was lost out in the woods, alone, and almost 3 hours till sundown.
