Chapter 18: How could this have happened?

I woke up in my tent. I had completely remembered what had happened last night. After I was pissed at Andrea I went to the barn where then Daryl found me. Then me and Daryl had sex. Then we went to bed. He went to his tent. I couldn't figure out why though. I got dressed and I was the only one awake. I went for a small walk and ran into Maggie. "Hey Maggie" I said as she walked passed. "Hey Kass. Did you have fun last night" Maggie said winking at me. "What do you-. Oh" I said finally figuring out what she meant. "Yeah me and Glenn were on a walk and we kind of overheard you guys" Maggie said laughing a little. "Damn. I was kind of hoping not to have been to loud" I said kind of embarrassed. "Oh trust me you where quiet. I don't even think Glenn heard you. But I was closer to the barn then him" Maggie said giggling again. "Anyway I'll see you later" Maggie said as she walked away. "See ya" I said before walking back to my tent. It was still early so I laid back down. It wasn't long though before I heard people moving around. I got back up and Almost everyone but Andrea was awake. I sat down and began to sharpen my knife. "We need someone to go talk to him. See what he knows" Rick said looking at the shed. "I'll go" Daryl said grabbing his knife. Rick nodded and Daryl was off to talk to Randall. After about 10 minutes he was walking back. "Well" Rick said. "Apparently their is about 50 men. Heavy weapons and ain't looking to make friends" Daryl said sitting down. I noticed the blood on his hands. "Ok that has just made up my mind. Tonight we will exacute Randall" Rick said walking away. Dale chased after him and I could here him trying to talk him out of it. I went back to my tent. On my way I noticed that some of the things that Maggie and Glenn couldn't find were getting to low. I grabbed my gun and was planning on making a short run. "Where ya off to" I heard Daryl say behind me. "I'm going on a small run into town. Same place I went last time. The supplies that Glenn and Maggie couldn't find are almost out now so I'm going to go get what I can." I said grabbing my bag. "Alright but I'm coming" Daryl said walking away. I sighed as I wanted to stop him. I laughed and went to find Kaley. "Hey me and Daryl are going on a small run into town-" I started to say as I walked into her tent. I was shocked to what I saw. It was her and Beth kissing. "Never mind I can see your busy. I'll see you later" I said walking back out. I laughed to myself. "What's so funny" Daryl said coming back up to me. "Nothing I said as I handed him the keys. "Your driving" I said getting into the passenger side of the car. Daryl got in after me. After about 30 minutes of driving we finally got to the town. "Place looks like a ghost town" Daryl said grabbing his crossbow out of the back seat. "Well it's better then nothing." I said grabbing my bag. Daryl nodded and went off to the first house. I went off to the one right next to his. It was clear other then one or two walkers. I made my way upstairs and found a bedroom. I was looking for anything useful when the door slammed behind me. I spun around and aimed my gun. "Put it down now" a mysterious man said. He had a pistol and was aiming right at me. "Ok" I said. I slowly lowered my pistol. I gently sat it down and stood back up. All I have left is my knife" I said slowly reaching for it. The man started to walk forward to grab my gun. When he got close enough I lunged at him with my knife. I missed and he fired his gun. The bullet hit my arm and I fell to the ground. "Stupid bitch" The man said raising the pistol to my head. The door swung open but I was in to much pain to even look over at it. I heard the man fire before he was screaming. I was barley able to keep my eyes open before I saw Daryl hovering over me. He tied a cloth to my arm to try to stop the bleeding he picked up my stuff and carried me to the car. He laid me back and raced back to the farm. I was unconscious at this point. However I could still hear everything. "Daryl what's going on" I heard Rick say. "Get Hershel" I heard Daryl say as he opened the back door and grabbed me. He laid me on the ground and was messing with my arm. "What happened" I heard Carl say. "Some idiot shot her" Daryl said trying to stop me from losing anymore blood. "I'm here" Hershel said as he started to heal my arm. Then all noise and everything was quiet and dark. 

I woke up in my tent. My arm hurt worse then any pain I have ever felt. I looked around. I reached for my water but knocked over my gun instead. "Damn" I said as the fall just knocked my water further back. I sat up and got out of my tent. "Your ok" Kaley said running up to me and hugging me. "Yeah hurts like hell but it's starting to fade now." I said hugging her back. "Do you think it was Randall's men" Carl said walking up to me and hugging me as well. "Maybe" I said hugging him back. "Just so you know you scared the hell out of Daryl" Maggie said laughing. "Where is he" I asked looking around. "He went back to the town about an hour ago. Should be back any second" Shane said sitting down next to Rick. And what seemed to be just on cu the car was pulling up. Daryl got out and immediately saw me. He dropped his bag and ran up to me and pulled me into a hug. This caught me off guard because he usually doesn't show feelings around other people. "Thank god your ok" He said still holding me. "Of course I am" I said. Daryl pulled away from the hug and kissed me. I was sure this caught everyone by surprise. "Ew" I heard Carl say. Daryl pulled away and hugged me again. I was so happy to be in the arms of someone who truly cared for me. 

We were all packed into Hershel's living room to have a final discussion about what was going to happen. "So as we all know Dale talked to all of you about keeping Randall alive. Who is with that" Rick said looking at everyone. "Well I can tell you it is a small group. Only me and Glenn" Dale said looking at Glenn. Glenn shook his head. "I'm sorry but the more I think of it the more I think we should just get it over with." Glenn said looking at Dale. "They have you scared" Dale said trying to keep Glenn on his side. "We don't know him" Glenn said back. "Even if we knew anything about him at all his men are within 10 miles. That bar is like 5 miles out. Unless we took him out really far and made sure he wasn't found. I think some how he would lead his men back" I said leaning against the wall. "So what just because of something that could happen your gonna kill a kid" Dale said trying to now convince me. "If they find us were all dead. Hell Randall even told Daryl that they have heavy weapons" I said standing my ground. "The decision is final. We do it tonight." Rick said leaving. One by one we all left the house. After about an hour Me, Daryl, Rick, and Shane were all in the barn with Randall. Rick was planning on just shooting him. Rick held his gun and was about to fire. "Do it dad" We heard Carl say. I ran over to Carl and lead him out of the barn. "Bring him back to the shed" Rick said putting his weapon away. We were all sitting in the dark discussing what to do now when we heard a scream. "Dale" Andrea yelled out. We all immediately grabbed our weapons and went to find Dale. We had our flashlights and where running through the dark. "Hey over here" we heard Daryl yell. We all sprinted towards Daryl and were shocked to what we saw. A walked had ripped open Dale. We all sat around Dale. "We need to do something" Rick said to Hershel. "Rick their is nothing I can do" Hershel said looking down at him. "He's suffering" Andrea was able to get out. Rick took out his gun and aimed it at Dale. I went over to Kaley and pulled her into a hug. Rick was having trouble pulling the trigger on his friend. I watched as Daryl took the gun out of his hand and aimed at Dale. "Sorry brother" I heard Daryl say before the gun fired. I lightly flinched at the noise. How of all people was Dale the one who had to die.
