Chapter 76: The start

I was told to go to Kingdom. I had no idea who any of these people were. Daryl apparently had met them though. I walked threw the gates and felt a lot of eyes on me. "Kass" I heard Carol say. I turned and saw her standing there. I walked up to her and hugged her. "Hey I need to get going. Start preparing I'll be back later" Daryl said. I nodded and he left. "What happened" she said. "I was at the lineup I don't know how but Glenn and Abraham they both are gone. I can't remember anything though" I said. "How did you get out. I hear it is very high security" she said walking me to a room. "I didn't think about it. I just tried the first thing that came to my mind and it worked. There was no time to stop and think about my next move at all." I said. She nodded and walked me to a room with double doors. "Don't freak out or anything but I think you should meet the leader here" she said opening the door. I walked in and saw a man on a stage with one guard and a tiger. I couldn't take my eye's off the tiger. Carol left and I was froze in my place. "Hello. I am King Eziekiel. Welcome to the Kingdom. This is Jerry and Shiva" he said. "What is your name" he said next. "Kassidy. But just call me Kass" I said still looking at the tiger. "Well Kass. I understand that you are apart of Alexandria and had recently escaped the Saviors sanctuary" he said. I nodded and finally looked at him. "Ok. We are preparing for battle as soon as tonight. However Daryl has requested that you not train. Is there a reason behind that" he said. "Yeah probably. However these people killed my best friends husband. I am fighting with her. If she can I can" I said. However as I said that I got really light headed. I grabbed on to a chair and looked down. "Are you sure about that one" he said. "I'm just malnourished. And pregnant" I said. "Ok. Jerry lead Kass to an empty room. Get her something to eat. She doesn't need to attend tonight's training. Hell she can help me teach it if she wants." he said. I nodded and followed Jerry out to the room I was going to be staying in. "If you need anything Carol is across the hall" he said. "Thank you" I said. "Not a problem" he said. I closed the door and sat on the bed. There was a basket of fruit and I just grabbed an orange. I peeled and ate it. It was the first real food in about a day I had. Then there was a knock at the door. I opened it and Jerry had some food. I took the tray and nodded. He turned and walked away. I ate the food even though the strawberry's were the only thing I recognized. I didn't really know what to expect. I mean this place seemed made up. It seemed like no one knew just how awful the world really is. I had no idea how I was going to sit here and do nothing. I only know Carol and me and her haven't always been on good terms. I really didn't want to stay here. I grabbed my knife and left heading back to the gate. "Hey where are you going" someone said. I had no idea who he was. "Back to my cabin. If Daryl comes back tell him I went back there." I said walking towards the gate. "I can't let you go out there alone" he said. "Well to damn bad cause you cant stop me" I said walking out. 

As I was walking I heard a car engine in the distance. I darted into the woods and got down on the ground behind some tall grass and a large rock. I sat against the tree next to them and waited. It was pitch black outside and I could only see the approaching headlights. If it was Negan and they saw me there would be no denying that they would take me back. The cars passed and they did look identical to Negan's vehicles. They had to have passed the cabin on the way to Kingdom. It wasn't that far away. I couldn't go back. But I couldn't retreat back to Kingdom either. Once the last car passed I began running into the woods. Running as far away as I could. 

It was almost morning and I had been walking and running all night. I saw the gates of Alexandria in the distance. I quickly made it over there and saw the armored trucks of Negan. I waited for what seemed like hours before they left. When I couldn't see them I snuck over to the gate. "Hey. Let me in" I said. The gate opened and it was Rosita. She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me inside. "Negan was just here looking for you" she said. "Yeah I saw him" I said. She shut the gate and walked me to the infirmary. I didn't argue cause for one I didn't even know if my baby was ok or not and two I just ran at least 20 miles. I walked in and saw a volunteer doctor. They ran a few tests on me and said that everything was fine. I walked back to me and Daryl's old house and it was a mess. Books were thrown everywhere. It looked like everything used to in the beginning. I was shocked. I walked upstairs and it was no better things were missing and I had no idea who took what. I walked into the old bathroom we shared and opened the drawer. The pregnancy test wasn't there. I didn't know who wanted a used pregnancy test but I guess someone did. I walked the entire house and barely recognized it. I hated that a month ago everything was fine. Everyone was happy. Then Negan and the saviors came and did all this. It was devastating. I heard car engines and got slightly nervous. However it wasn't one of Negan's cars. It was Daryl. I saw him walking towards the house and knew someone told him I was here. He walked in and I heard him searching the whole house. "Kass Rosita said you where here" he yelled out. "Upstairs" I called out. I heard him walk up the stairs and into our bedroom. He hugged me immediately. "Why didn't you stay at Kingdom" he asked. "I don't know anyone there except Carol and Morgan. I wanted to be back with everyone." I said. "Ok fair enough. I didn't want you fighting but tomorrow is going to be the first war. We are going to win. I promise you that." he said.
