Chapter 10: How long

My ankle heeled really fast. It had only been about 12 hours and I was able to walk again. I walked out of the room and all eyes were on me. "Rick you guys have to listen to me. I would never hit her. She has been through to much I would never do that" Jacob said looking at me. "Yeah right" Daryl said walking up to him. "Daryl we don't have any proof that he has been hitting her" Shane said stepping between them. Daryl looked at Shane then back at me. "Really" Daryl said looking at me again. He walked over to me and grabbed my arm. He pulled over to everyone else and looked at every one. He grabbed the sleeve of my jacket and pulled it up. "These didn't come from the well. She fell on her ankle not her arm. And look. Those are hand marks. Is that enough proof" Daryl said holding me arm out for everyone to see. "Kass has Jacob been hitting you" Rick said grabbing my shoulder. I looked over at Jacob who was glaring at me. "Yeah" I said closing my eyes. "You bitch" Jacob said running at me. Out of protection I took out my machete so I wouldn't land on it. While taking it out he ran into it. His limp body fell on top of me and I hit my head on the ground. That was all I could remember before everything went black. 

I woke back up in the same bed again. I rolled out of bed and noticed the blood on me. I then remembered. I accidently stabbed Jacob. Do they think I am a killer now? I walked out of the room and I saw Maggie talking to Glenn. They turned and ran over to me when they saw me. "Are you ok" Glenn said hugging me. "Yeah I um. I'm fine" I said looking around. "How's your head" Maggie said looking for a bump or major bruising. "I have a small headache but other then that I'm fine" I said looking over to Carl's room. "Ya their in there. At least Rick and Lori are" Glenn said looking at the door. "Are they upset about Jacob" I said looking back at Glenn. Just the they came out. "Kass your awake" Lori said running up to me and hugging me. "Yeah I'm fine" I said looking at Rick. "Listen I am really sorry about Jacob. I didn't mean to do that" I said pulling away from Lori. "Kass it was self defense. Most of us would have done the same thing" Rick said hugging me. I nodded and walked out the house. I was instantly greeted by everyone. "Are you ok" Carol asked hugging me. "Yeah I'm fine" I said. We talked about Jacob for about an hour before I noticed that Daryl was not their. "Hey have any of you seen Daryl" I asked taking a drink of my water. "Yeah I think he is over by the well behind the shed" Andrea said motioning to the shed. I nodded and walked over their. I turned the corner and sure enough he was sitting against the shed stabbing the ground with his knife. "Hey" I said. He turned his head and stood up. "Are you ok" Daryl said looking at my head. "Yeah I'm fine" I said answering that question once again. Daryl nodded. "I never thought you would kill him. I thought I would beat you two it" Daryl said sitting back down. I sat down next to him. "Well if it wasn't because of self defense you would have most likely been the one" I said giggling a little bit. "Yeah." Daryl said slightly smiling. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. "This is the first time in almost two days since I have been outside. I know Carl has a higher streak but still" I said opening my eyes again. "Hey tomorrow I am going out to look for Sophia. If you want to come your more then welcomed" Daryl said looking at me. "Well with being injured twice in two days maybe I will pass this time. Next time maybe" I said looking back at him. Daryl nodded before looking away. I notice more and more how awkward he is around me. I didn't think to much of it though. I heard footsteps coming up behind us. "Hey sorry if I am interrupting anything but I need to talk to you Kass" Rick said looking down at the two of us. "OK. See you later Daryl" I said standing up and walking with Rick. "See ya" I heard Daryl say behind me. "So I need to ask you some questions about Jacob" Rick said turning to look at me. "Ask away" I said looking back at him. "How long was Jacob hitting you" He started by asking. "Ever since Cleo died that night in the camp" I said looking up at him. "How long did Daryl know" He then asked. "The second day on the highway. The morning before Carl was shot. He claims to have known since it started but that is when I knew he knew" I answered. "Why didn't you tell anybody" Rick asked looking over at everyone. "I didn't know how you guys would react and I didn't want anyone to get hurt." I answered. "You can go. That all I wanted to know" Rick said walking away.
