Chapter 54: Safety or a death sentence?

We all looked at each other not knowing how to respond to this new man standing in front of us. "Where did you find him" Rick asked not taking his stare of Aaron. "Me and Sasha were sitting by one of the fallen trees. He came up and introduced himself" Maggie said looking at Rick then back to Aaron. "Hi. It is really nice to meet you" Aaron said walking forward with his hands still up. Rick just slightly tilted his head and Aaron got the memo. "How many walkers have you killed" Rick asked walking forwards a bit. "I don't know. Never really kept count. A lot" Aaron said trying to think of a number. "How many people have you killed" Rick asked next. Aaron sighed and looked down for a second. "One" he said looking back at Rick. "Why" Rick asked tilting his head again. "He was bit. Didn't want to turn. He asked me to" Aaron said. I don't think Rick completely trusted him yet. "I live in a community it is safe and you can all stay there" Aaron said. Aaron's statements were cut short when Rick walked forward and knocked him out. Abraham tied him to one of the polls and Rick threw me his bag. "Find anything useful" Rick said walking over to Judith and Carl. I nodded and started to go through the bag. I found pictures of people and gates and a community. "Rick" I said looking at the pictures. Rick walked over to me and so did Daryl. "Unless he was at a community and it is gone now he wasn't lying" I said handing Rick the pictures. Rick looked through the pictures and then handed them to Daryl. "So what do we do" Maggie asked walking up to us. "I say we go. Once we get a little more information about it. I mean he looks like the place is still standing" Michonne said also walking up to us. "Maybe. Lets see what all he knows first" Rick said walking away. "What do ya think" Daryl asked grabbing my hand. "If it is there and it's safe I think we should try. We have been on the road ever since Kaley and Ty" I said looking over to Aaron. "Yeah. Let's hope Rick thinks of it like that" Daryl said also looking at the man. He slowly started to wake up. We all started to walk up to him and Rick was in front. "I see you found the pictures" Aaron said looking at the pictures. "Kass what else is in the bag" Rick asked looking back at me. I grabbed the bag again and saw some jars of baby food. "Baby food and an apple" I said dropping the bag down. "Why do you have baby food" Rick asked resting his hand on his machete. "I saw you had the baby" Aaron said motioning towards Carl and Judith. "You were followin us" Daryl asked suddenly. "For a little while" Aaron said looking at all of us. "What all did you see" Michonne asked. "Well I saw the couple of times he went off on his own" Aaron said gesturing towards Daryl. "Also saw you two go off and her talk to you" He said looking at me and Carol. "Left you guys water but you guys didn't trust it. When he told you guys about this barn everyone except that girl and the older kid went" Aaron said looking at me and Carl. Rosita came up behind me and rested her hand on my shoulder. "I saw everything at the bridge" he said suddenly. I looked down ad turned around. "Were not talking about that" Daryl said walking up to me. "I saw the way you were willing to jump right off that bridge with her. You can't lose her and if that means you die in the process at least you will be with her. You guys are good people. We need people like you in Alexandria" Aaron said trying to persuade Rick. Rick looked back at me, Rosita, and Daryl. "Ok maybe this will make you believe me. About 5 miles north I have an RV parked. My partner is hold up in a building about 10 miles north. Send some people that way and you can see it for your self" Aaron said. Rick nodded and looked around. "Alright Abraham, Rosita, Glenn, Maggie, and Tara you all go to the RV. The rest of you walk around the see if you can find anything that would prove it wrong. If you guys aren't back in an hour, he dies" Rick said taking Judith from Carl. We got our stuff and started to walk around. I was hoping everything would turn out fine but you never know now days. 

Rick's POV:

I was now alone with Aaron. Judith was starting to cry and was wanting food. I was trying to mash some acorn. "I know you heard that girl Kass when she said there was baby food in my bag" Aaron said suddenly. I looked at him but ignored his remark. "If the dead hear her and they come I will be the first to go I know that but please trust me when I say I would never harm the kid or anyone" Aaron said still trying to convince me. I walked over to his bag and pulled out the first jar I felt. It was a jar of applesauce. I opened the jar and took a spoon over to him. "You really think I would try to poison your kid" Aaron said. I didn't let up. "I don't like applesauce only brought so you could know we have apple trees nearby" Aaron pleaded. "Like you said you would be the first to go" I said still holding the spoon out. He reluctantly took the applesauce and I knew if he ate it she could. I fed her some and she almost immediately stopped crying. "Rick you there" I heard the walkie buzz out. "What is it" I said grabbing it and staring down Aaron. "He wasn't lying RV is right where he said it would be" Glenn said through the walkie talkie. "Alright come on back then" I said sitting the walkie back in my bag.

Kass's POV:

We didn't find anything alarming and once it was closing in on an hour we decided to head back. "You think Glenn and them found the RV" Carl asked walking up next to me. "I hope" I said looking at Carl. I have seen him grow so much and it has blown my mind. I remember when I first came into contact with these people he was relying on his mother. I think when he had to put Lori down back at the prison it made him realize that he had to expect the unexpected. We made it back to the barn and saw the others in the distance. "He was telling the truth" Glenn said walking in. We all followed and when Rick saw all of us he knew Aaron was telling the truth. "Now do you believe me" Aaron said. "We head out in an hour. But if this turns out to be gone and he is still hiding something I will kill him and his partner and any one else involved. That is a promise" Rick said as he started to pack his stuff up. We all continued to grab are things. "I am going with Carl and Judith. Are you ok with going with Aaron, Rick, and Glenn" Daryl asked. "Yeah it's fine" I said. "Ok see you in a while" Daryl said as he leaned forward and kissed me. I kissed him back and when he pulled away he went to the car. I got in the car with Rick and we were off.
