Chapter 37: Where do we go now

Me, Lizzie, Mika, Judith, and Tyreese were running through the woods. We got separated from everyone else and we had no idea who made it out and who didn't. We were running and we came across a set of train tracks. We decided to stop and rest here. "They made it out" I said checking my gun. "Who" Mika asked. "Let's hope everyone" I said handing them my water. "I saw a river while we were running. We can set up camp there" Tyreese said holding his arm. "Let me see it" I said walking up to him. He had a cut down his arm. "How" I asked. "Jumped over a flower bed cut my arm on the wood" Tyreese said. I wrapped his arm with the small amount of supplies I had and we were off to find the river. Once we got there I sat on a small ledge that was a little high up. We were sitting around a small fire and I heard rustling. "Lizzie get out your gun" out. Mika take out your knife and keep Judith quiet." I said taking out my knife. I crouched down in front of the girls but was shocked when only Carol came out. "Your ok" I said standing up. She hugged the girls then me. "What happened" she asked. "Governor came back he took Hershel and Michonne hostage then decapatated Hershel. Right in front of Maggie and Beth. I got them out. Got separated from the rest. All I saw was Daryl and Kaley get out. There out here. We just need to find them" I said sitting back down. "You can. I am not putting the girls in danger. We ain't coming" Carol said. "Well after I find Daryl and Kaley we will most likely go to find Rick and Carl who will be looking for Judith so yeah kind of need her" I said looking at a map. "I want to go with her" Lizzie said. "Me too" Mika said also. "No to dangerous" Carol said not letting up. "No if they want to come they can. We spent over a month looking for your daughter. Daryl almost died in the process. Carl almost died in the process. At any moment one of us could have died. We spent every day out in the woods looking for your little girl. So screw you for saying that you won't help me after my husband tried to kill me during the search for your daughter and my boyfriend almost died for her. If those two want to come with me they can. End of discussion" I said standing up. "I never asked for that" Carol said. "Like hell. The second she ran out to the woods Rick went after her. Then you got all upset with him for it. So shut the hell up" I said walking closer. I went back to the ledge and sat down. After a few hours Tyreese, Carol, Mika and Judith were asleep. I thought Lizzie was too but she came to sit by me. "You should sleep" I said looking at the girl. "I can't" she said. "I wanted to say that no matter what I want to go with you" Lizzie said looking at me. I nodded. She looked at my wrist. "Who hurt you. I saw the cuts on your arms while we were running. Who did it" she asked motioning to the cuts that I put there. "I did it" I said looking at my arm. "Why" she asked looking at my hand. "I went through a lot. Thought it would be best. I was wrong and Daryl he showed me that" I said looking at the child. She nodded. "Do you think everyone made it." Lizzie said looking down. "Well the only ones I saw were Daryl and Kaley so I know they made it at least" I said looking at her sleeping sister. "We can find them. Daryl was teaching you how to track right" she said looking back at me. "He started to. I know the basics but after Zach, we fell off because then everything got crazy" I said looking back to her. She nodded. "It is getting late why don't you go back to sleep" I said resting my hand on her shoulder. "Ok. What about you" the girl said as she hoped off the ledge. "I might not be able to sleep for a little bit" I said. She nodded and went back next to her sister. I thought about how far Daryl could be. I studied the map for a little bit before just watching over everyone. 

After everyone was awake we packed up our things and started to walk again. We got about 1/2 of a mile before we heard screams. We stopped and listen. Carol grabbed my arm. "What are you doing" I said. "Leave it" she said. I pulled my arm free and took out my gun. I ran from the origin of the screams and there was a small group of people fighting off walkers. I holstered my gun and grabbed my knife. I took out a few and the last one got the only man left standing. I took out the walker and that was when Tyreese and the others caught up to me. "Terminus just follow the tracks north. It is safe there. The kids can be kids there" the man said as he dropped to his knees. I looked at Carol and everyone before walking over to the man. "No let it happen. Maybe I can be with my family again" he said. I nodded before walking away. We started going north on the tracks. "That is where we go. We go to terminus." Carol said. "Maybe. If we don't find them by then. Even then we don't stay long" I said still walking. "Oh my god Kass you need to let him go" Carol said. I stopped dead in my tracks I turned to look at her. "Rick told me and Maggie what you did. I will say it again. You do not have to come but Lizzie already said she wanted to come with me no matter what. And I will bring Judith with me." I said walking up to her. "Lizzie can't decide that" Carol said. "Your not my mom Carol. I know how to fight walkers and people now" Lizzie said. Carol looked at the child before looking back at me. "Fine" she said walking forward. We followed and we were back on track.
