Chapter 68: Always an upside

I woke up to Daryl getting up. "Sorry didn't mean to wake you" he said smiling. "Your fine" I said sitting up. "Me and Rick are going on that run. Need anything." he asked. "Pregnancy tests" I said. "You think that you might be" he asked. "Haven't had any symptoms yet but there is always a possibility." I said. "Ok" he said nodding. He leaned forward and kissed me. "Be careful. You scared the hell out of me with dry run thing. Don't do that again" I said. "I'll try not to. I also give you full permission to beat the shit out of Spencer if you feel the need to" he said. "Ok. Note taken" I said laughing. He smiled and left the house. I got dressed and had no idea what I wanted to  do. I figured if anything I would go and help out with rebuilding the wall. Or stop by and check in on Carl. 

I left the house and was just planning on going for a walk. I was hoping Spencer was finally getting the hint about me not wanting anything to do with him and would back off. Who knows. After walking around for a while I got bored. I decided why not go on a miny run. Just go around and see what I come across. I grabbed a bag and made my way to the gate. "Hey we already have Rick and Daryl out there" Maggie said. "I know. I have nothing better to do though so why not go see what I can see" I said. "Ok. Be safe" she said. "Always" I said waving and walking into the woods. 

I came across a small house and decided to check it. I checked the first floor and saw a small bathroom. It had some medical items so I grabbed them. I also saw a pregnancy test in the drawer. I hadn't been having any symptoms but it was still tempting to take. I looked at it and saw it was expired. I shook of the idea and put it back. I cleaned out the bathroom and checked the rest of the house. 

The house was basically empty. Except for the garage. I came across a few handguns and ammo. I began to walk again before hearing people. I ran behind a tree. "Keep a look out for anything useful. If that house is still up our handguns are there" A man said. I figured it was the house I just left. "Look. Tracks. They ain't no walkers either" another man said. "Follow them" the first man said. "Fuck" I mumbled. I took out my knife and got ready to fight. They were dangerously close to me. I popped out from my spot and stabbed the first one in the neck. "You bitch" the other one said pushing me back. "Ain't no where to run" he said as I crawled backwards. "Negan is gonna like you. Your a pretty one. That is if I don't keep you for myself" he said grabbing some rope. I kicked his knee cap and he fell back. "Fucking bitch" he said. I grabbed my knife and went after him. However he tripped me. I hit a rock. Same place my arm was previously stabbed. "Agh" I yelled out in pain as my arm started to bleed again. The man got back up and had a gun. "Fuck you bitch" he said. I knew he would pull the trigger so I moved. It barely missed me. I kicked him again and grabbed my knife going up to him and slicing his throat while he was on the ground. I fell back and laid there. I had no energy to get up and didn't want to. I didn't even know my head was also bleeding. I didn't even realize when I passed out. 

Daryl's POV: Me and Rick were still chasing the truck that got stolen from us by some guy. He call's himself Jesus. We caught up to him and tied him up. We got in the truck and was on our way back to Alexandria when we heard someone on the roof of the car. Rick quickly stopped the car and this guy fell off. He started to run. I got out and chased him on foot while Rick took out the surrounding walkers. Jesus tried to get in the truck and accidently started it. It started to back up and the tuck went right into a lake. "Fuck" I sighed. Jesus got hit by the door so he was knocked out. "I'll start up one of those cars" Rick said. I started to tie up Jesus and brought him to the car. "I'm gonna check the others" I said. Rick nodded. I opened the trunks of every car and saw a small bag in one. It had two pregnancy test in them. I took them and made my way back to Rick. "Find what you were looking for" he asked. "Mhm" I said getting in the front. He looked at my hands as I put them in my bag. "So Kass thinks she might be pregnant" he said suddenly. "We had a scare about a week ago. Figured that we could actually try. She just wants one just in case" I said leaning back. "Well goodluck" Rick said. I nodded and we drove back. 

We finally for back to Alexandria and Maggie opened the gate. She had a gun and looked worried. "Everything alright" Rick asked holding Jesus. "No. Kass went out earlier. She hasn't come back yet" Maggie said. "When did she leave" I asked worried. "I don't know maybe around 12" Maggie said. "Daryl go find her. I got him" Rick said. I nodded and followed Maggie into the woods. "Which way" I said. "Straight from here but I don't know if she made any turns" Maggie said. I took out my flashlight and saw her trail. "Yeah. This way" I said. We followed her trail and saw a house. "She in there" Maggie asked. "She was but she left the house" I said. I followed the trail when I saw two walkers. I took them out and saw Kass on the ground. "No" I said running up to her. She was covered in blood. "Babe. Kass wake up" I said lightly shaking her. Her eyes slowly opened. "Hey" I said. "Fuck" She mumbled. She tried to sit up. "Hey be careful" I said. Her arm was open again and now she had a wound on her head. "What happened" Maggie asked. "Found some stuff in this house and started to leave when these two came up. Saw my trail and found me. I took one down easy but the other one pushed me back. My arm and hit hit a rock. After I took him out I passed out" she said. "Lets get you back home" I said putting her arm over my shoulder. Maggie helped me and we got her home fast. It wasn't long though before she passed out again.
