Chapter 23: We gotta stay together

Just a warning for this chapter things get kind of heated between Kass and Daryl if you uh know what I mean. So if that stuff weirds you out or makes you uncomfortable skip to the next heading. Thank you <3

After every that happened with the prisoners I had already planned on not going to sleep anytime soon. I walked back to me and Daryl's cell and sat on the bed. After a few minutes Daryl walked in. "Hey" He said as he sat next to me. "Hey" I said looking over at him. "You ok" Daryl said resting his hand on my thigh. "Yeah. Just not gonna be able to sleep after everything. Between Hershel and the prisoners." I said as I looked down at his hand. "Yeah I probably won't sleep either. I mean hell we all basically spent the first two days here sleeping so" Daryl said still keeping his hand on my thigh. I smiled at his remark and l kept my stare on his hand. I was starting to lose myself in my thoughts when Daryl started to squeeze my thigh. My eyes moved to his hand again before looking up at him. After about 10 seconds of just us staring at each other he leaned forward and kissed me. He moved his hands up to my waist and pushed me back. After a few minutes of us like this he reached down for my shirt. I grabbed his arm to stop him. "Not here" I said looking around. "Where" Daryl said looking around. "Guard tower is open" I said smiling. He leaned down and kissed me before standing up. We walked quietly to the guard tower being careful not to wake anybody. Once we got up their I shut the door and was immediately pushed against it. Daryl started to kiss me again. While he was still holding me against the wall he reached down to take his shoes off. I was blindly doing the same. After both of our shoes were off he picked me up and sat me on a table that was in the room. He started to kiss me again before taking off his shirt. after another 30 seconds of kissing he reached for the bottom of my shirt and took it off as well. He continued to kiss me. After a few seconds a I started to mess with his belt buckle. He paused from kissing me and took of his pants. Leaving us in about the same situation as back in the barn awhile back. Then he let his body take control. It was great. I was trying to stay as quiet as possible because I didn't want whoever was on guard to over here everything. 

I woke up back in the cell me and Daryl shared. He was already awake and out of the cell. I got up and saw Lori and saw Lori, Maggie, Carol, and Beth helping Hershel up. They had found crutches and he was fully awake now. We walked outside with him close to us making sure he wouldn't fall. In the distance I could see Rick, Glenn and Daryl clearing out some of the walkers along the outer fence. We all stood their for a minute until Carl yelled something that caught us all off guard. "Walkers" I heard the boy yell as he got up on a nearby picnic table. I turned around and started to shoot. I didn't even know how they got in. "Kaley go with Beth and Hershel and get them to safety. Use your gun" I said shooting as many as I could. Kaley and Beth took Hershel and shut a cage door behind them. It would have led to another cell that wasn't cleared yet. I saw that C block was open and knew I had to get them to safety. "Maggie, Lori, Carl over here" I said as I ran to open the cell door. We got in and started to try to find an empty room. As we were walking down the almost empty hall Lori stopped and paced herself on the wall. "Whats wrong" I said going to her side. "I- I think the baby's coming" Lori said leaning against the wall. "Come on" I said helping her walk. We found a boiler room and surprisingly it was cleared. We went in and she leaned against one of the bars. She was breathing heavily. After another few minutes their was a blaring alarm. "What the hell" I said looking around. "Lori you need to lay down" Maggie said while trying to process what was going on. After Lori was attempting to have the baby naturally it wasn't working. "I know what it means" Lori said weakly. "You have to cut me open. They had to do it with Carl and I figured it was gonna have to happen with this baby" Lori said trying to keep her eyes open. "I can't Carol is the only one who prepared for it" Maggie said trying not to cry. "Maggie please. Use Carl's knife" Lori said looking at Carl. At this point I was trying not to cry as Lori was the first person to talk to me after I met all them. "Carl don't be scared. Ok. You are strong and you are smart and you are so brave. And I love you." Lori said grabbing Carl's hand. "You are going to beat this world I know it" Lori said pulling Carl into a hug. This broke my heart. I let a tear fall before wiping it and going to stand up. Lori grabbed my hand. "You are strong to. You earned your place here" Lori said looking up at me. I nodded before going to see if it was clear or not. I came back and sat next to Carl. "Goodnight love" Lori said. "I'm sorry" Maggie said while taking Carl's knife and cutting Lori's stomach open. "Stop. Your killing her" Carl yelled out as he watched his mom take a final breath. Another few tears fell before Maggie had the baby in her hand. However it wasn't moving. After a few seconds the baby girl started to cry. Carl took off his jacket to keep it warm. Looking at Lori's lifeless body hurt bad. Maggie stood up. "Come on. We need to get back" Maggie said standing up. "We can't just leave her here. She'll turn" Carl said looking at me. I took out my knife. "No" Carl said. "Carl" I responded looking down at the broken boy. Carl then took his gun out. "She's my mom" Carl said with tears in his eyes. Even though I hated the thought of him having to do this I knew their was no talking him out of it. I walked towards Maggie and once I go their I herd Carl's gun go off. Me and Maggie froze and turned. Carl came around the corner and looked broken. I closed my eyes for a second. We walked out of the boiler room and was making our way back to where we left Beth and the others. "We stopped right before we would be outside just to see if it was safe. "They have to be here somewhere" I heard Daryl say. "Ok we go back in try to see-" Rick was starting to say before we opened the door. Rick looked at me. Then at Carl. Then at Maggie. Then at the baby. "Where- where is she. Where is she" Rick said walking towards us. I closed my eyes and more tears fell. "No Rick no" Maggie said trying to stop calm him. Rick started to cry and look at Carl. I was frozen until Daryl wrapped his arms around me. I tried to stop my tears but I couldn't. Maggie went to Glenn and the only noise was Ricks sobs in the background.
