Chapter 5: The CDC.

It took us about 2 days to finally arrive at the CDC. We finally arrived at the end of the third day. We all ran up to the doors but they were shut and the metal covering was over them. "Rick this is a dead end" Shane said going up to bang on the door. "Walkers" I yelled as i saw at least 10-12 coming. "Rick we have to go" Shane was yelling. At his point we were all trying to get him to come back to the vehicles so the kids would be safe. That was until the door opened.

 We were greeted by Dr. Edwin Jenner. Apparently he was the only one left at the CDC and every one else had "Opted out" basically meaning the committed suicide. We had a big meal with wine and all kinds of different things. After we were done eating we went to shower. I was in need of one because I was still covered in Cleo's blood. When I got out of the shower i saw Jacob sitting on the opposite bed. "Why don't you come over here babe" I said trying to comfort him. Then he did something I never though he would. He grabbed my arm and started to hit me. I new that Cleo's death hurt him but I didn't know he genuinely thought I killed her. I eventually fell asleep. Basically cried myself asleep. When I woke up I tried my best to hide any bruises I had. Jacob had already left the room so that was a feeling of relief. I left the room and the rest of the group was already awake. The only person I didn't see was Jacob. I didn't really care that much. If he was gonna hit me for a walker taking our daughter he didn't deserve me. "Doctor, I don't want to overwhelm you with questions first thing in the morning but, that clock over their.. It's counting. Down what happens at zero?" Dale asked. Everyone was instantly distracted from what we were doing. "The basement generators will run out of fuel" Jenner responded. "What does that mean." Rick asked getting concerned. "Total decontamination will occur. In other words the building will explode" Jenner said walking over to one of the computers. We all started to leave when he shut the door on us and locked us in. We all tried everything to get out. Jacob was not even trying to comfort me. I mean I really didn't care what would happen. I already lost my daughter, I was ready to just give up. At the last possible minute Jenner opened the door. While we were thanking him he told us "The day will come when you wont be" Then he whispered something into Rick's Ear. "I am staying I said as I sat down. "Go just go we will catch up" Daryl told the others. "Kass you can't do this, we all need you" Daryl said trying to talk me out of it. "Daryl their is nothing left for me in this world. You need to get out while you still can" I said. trying not to cry. "Not with out you" Daryl said sitting down.
