Chapter 78: We are the world

I woke up at around 4:55 in the morning. I knew why. I got up and headed straight towards the bathroom. I sat there for a minute before the morning sickness hit me. I threw up what I could and laid back. I flushed the toilet with my foot and laid there. "God damn it" I said to my self. I slowly stood up and walked back to the room. I quietly laid down and fell back asleep. 

I woke up and looked over at my alarm. It was about noon. "The fuck" I said shooting up. Daryl was gone. I quickly got dressed and ran down stairs. Daryl was sitting there talking to Rick and Aaron. He looked over at me when I came down. After a while they left. "Why the hell did you turn my alarm off" I said walking up to him. "Because you keep getting woken up early by the baby. You haven't gotten much sleep. We aren't heading out for another 4 hours or so so its fine. You didn't miss anything" he said grabbing my waist. "But still" I said attempting to argue with him. "I don't care. You obviously needed the sleep" he said. "Fine. But don't do it again" I said. "Yeah no promises" he said cockily. I smiled and kissed him. I could never explain how much I missed this feeling. The feeling to be able to be held in his arms like he always did. After a few seconds someone was knocking on the door. Daryl pulled away and opened it. "Hey we are holding a meeting. All the communities are meeting there and we are leaving early. Try to catch Negan by surprise." Rick said. "Okay. Lets go" Daryl said turning to me. I grabbed my gun and walked over to him. We all went out into a cleared out spot in the woods. Rick stepped up first. "You all know why your here. You are here cause you are helping us fight to get back what Negan and the saviors took from us. Some of you it is more dangerous to be out here. Kass. Maggie. You both are pregnant. It is taking a lot of strength to come out here and still fight. However we need to know what we are fighting for. Negan and the saviors killed four people from Alexandria in a matter of a week. Maybe a little more. Glenn and Abraham. Olivia and Spencer. They didn't deserve to die. Not in the way they did. He crushed Glenn and Abrahams skull open with his bat. Each and every one of you made a commitment. The second you got in the cars to come here you have dedicated yourself to this battle. Now I don't expect Kass to fight all the way up to her due date. I don't. If you are hurt you can stop. Hell anyone of you can stop. But just think. If you stop fighting that is one less person we have fighting for the ones we lost. Think of everyone we lost so far. We are done losing. We are done losing to the Saviors." he said. Everyone clapped. Ezekiel stepped forward next. "When the saviors first started trading with us. I didn't want to start a panic. They killed one person. It was enough to handle. We kept going. I didn't tell you because I knew that you all would want to fight. And the Kingdom is known for not jumping into battle. Unless we have to. When they killed Benjamin. Someone who was volunteering to help. Someone who shouldn't have even been there. Someone who never got to say goodbye to his younger brother. That is when I realized that we had to fight. Then when Rick and the people of Alexandria came to me along side Jesus. I knew what had to be done. I still tried to push it off. Until Daryl brought Kass to us. I saw her struggling to stand and still fighting. Fighting like she never fought before. Fighting like it was her last day. Fighting like the unborn child she is carrying was right beside her. I knew that we could fight to. And we will fight. We will fight until the saviors surrender. We will fight until Negan, Simon, and Dwight are all dead. We will fight to the very end" he said. Ending his speech Shiva made a noise. Maggie slowly stood up and walked forward. "I want to talk about that night. The night when Negan lined Me, Rick, Kass, Daryl, Carl, Aaron, Abraham, Eugene, Michonne, Rosita, Glenn, and Sasha up. We were completely surrounded. I don't know how many of you guys actually had to go threw that. I was sick. Something was wrong with my baby and we needed to get to Hilltop. Without hesitation he killed Abraham. In front of all of us. Then without hesitation he killed Glenn. Then joked about it. I knew from the start that we would all come together and fight. I knew we would find the strength. My daddy always told me and my sister that we had to find strength in our weakest points. My sister has been through a lot. She never leaves her room. She lost her girlfriend. Kass's sister. I watched Negan beat Glenn to death right in front of me. And yeah I won't lie I am upset. I wish he was here. Every night I hope to wake up and it all be a dream. Hell I hope that all of this is a dream. I hope that we never had to do this. But we are ready. We have practiced. We have been threw it over and over again. We all know that the plan doesn't end this morning. And we know that we may have to live in uncertainty for days maybe more. That we have to keep our faith in each other. If we can hold onto that with everything we have. The future is ours. The world is ours. Rick. You were trapped. Glenn didn't know you but he helped you. He put himself in danger for you. And that started it all. From Atlanta. To my daddy's farm. To the prison. To here. To this moment now. Not as strangers. As family." she said ending her speech. We all clapped and got in our cars. It was going to be a long night. 

We started the drive to the sanctuary. I never wanted to go back. I hated Negan. That's why I wanted him dead. We finally arrived and drove our cars up. They had scrap metal that no one was using on the sides to protect us from bullets that they may fire back. After a few seconds we all fired three shots into the sky. After a few seconds everyone started coming out of the building. At least those who were important. I saw Gregory with them and looked at Rick. "I'm sorry. I was in a meeting" Negan said. "Anyway since I don't know all of you I'm" Negan started to say before Rick cut him off. "I know who you are. Your Negan. That's Simon. Dwight. Arat. And Gregory." he said. "Good. Now since Gregory is here." Negan said looking at Gregory. "The hilltop is to have a full partner ship with the saviors. Anyone who disagrees will be kicked out and left to fend for themselves. Hilltop stands with Negan." he said. "The hilltop stands with" he tried to say again before Jesus yelled back. "The hilltop stands with Maggie". Negan chuckled. "Listen Rick. I care about my people. I'm not just going to march them into the line of fire cause I wanna play my dick is bigger then yours. It is" he said. "Surrender now. I wont ask again" Rick called out. No response. "Are you going to make me count. Ok I'm counting. 10" he said. "9. 8. 7. 6" he said before firing at the sanctuary. We all picked up our guns and fired. Shooting the windows where Negan had people with snipers. Our own sniper taking out anyone who tried to get away. It was successful. Walkers were filling in. I was lost as I was firing my weapon when Daryl grabbed my hand. "Hey we won this one but we will lose if we dont move" he said. I nodded and followed him to our car. Once we were safe he began the drive home. The walkers were going to trap them. Another successful win.
