Chapter 42: What if everyone is already dead

Daryl's POV: 

While at the funeral home Kaley kept wanting to get drunk. She said she missed the feeling. "Why can't we though" she asked me again. "Because I am not taking the chance of us both getting drunk and one of us or both of us dying" I said throwing her a water bottle. She nodded and drank it. "So what did you do before all this" Kaley asked sitting at a small table. I shrugged. I was slowly losing hope that Kass was out there still. "I was at the end of my college years. Kass was starting her Lawyer job. Maggie was finishing college. What about you" she asked again. "Didn't really do much of anything" I said not giving a full answer. "Well you care about people so it wasn't bad right" she said looking at me. I looked up getting kind of upset that she was trying to figure out my emotions. I never let anyone get as close as Kass. "You care right" she said looking at me. I pushed back at the table making a walker come to the house. "Daryl we need to be quiet" Kaley said. I was upset. "Well let's go say hi to our new friend" I said letting my anger get the best of me. I grabbed her arm and we went out side. "Ever shot a crossbow before" I said shooting an arrow that pinned it to a tree. "No why" she responded. "I'll show you" I said grabbing her and trying to force her to shoot it. She broke free and killed the walker. "What the hell is wrong with you" She yelled out. "What's wrong with me. Everyone we know and loved are dead. All you are worried about is getting drunk." I yelled back. "There not dead" she yelled. "Might as well be because we might never see them again. Maggie, Carl, Rick, Beth, Kass. They are dead." I yelled. I hated saying Kass was dead but it may be true. "They are out there somewhere" She said quieting down. "If I would have stayed with her we would have made it out together. But no I sent her away. Told her I would find her after but I don't think we will" I said not yelling anymore. Then Kaley wrapped her arms around me. I wasn't used to any other physical touch that wasn't from Kass. After she pulled away she went back inside. I grabbed the arrows from off the walker. I picked up my crossbow and walked back into the funeral home. I felt bad for yelling but I was slowly losing hope. I walked back in and saw Kaley sitting against the wall. "I'm sorry" I said as I sat by her. "Don't be. I brought up the subject and I should have known this was just as hard on you as it was me." She said looking at me. Then I heard something on the porch. No groans or anything it sounded like a person. Then I saw what was behind the door. Dozens of walkers. I pushed my self against the door and Kaley threw me my crossbow. "GO get out I'll met you outside go" I yelled over the walkers. She did just that and ran. I fought off some of the walkers before making my way towards Kaley. I found a spot where someone went down and knew it was her. I looked over and saw a car with a cross driving away. I chased it. Ran after it for hours. I stopped the next afternoon and fell to the ground. "Daryl" I heard. I looked up and saw Carl. I stood up and looked for anyone else. "Dad guys out here" Carl said over his shoulder then Rick, Beth, and Michonne came out. I looked but didn't see Kass. "Where is Kass" Carl asked. "She ain't with you" I said letting myself hope. Michonne shook her head. I looked at Beth. "Someone took Kaley. We got out together but someone in a car took her after the place we were out got over run" I said looking at Beth. She nodded. "We are on our way to Terminus. Kass may be there." Rick said. I nodded and we started towards terminus. However once we got there it was not fun. They had stuff for our people. We fought but lost. We got put into a train car. "Rick" I heard Glenn say. Then I saw Glenn, Maggie, Sasha, Bob, and some new faces but no Kass. "They are gonna feel real stupid when they find out" Rick said. "Find out what" Another man who I never saw before said. Rick looked at us all. "Their fucking with the wrong people" Rick said. 

A/m: Ok so I want to clear this up. This should be the season 4 finale in real time. But I have something more for Kass, Lizzie, Mika, Tyreese, Carol, and Judith. The next chapter will be the season 4 ending.
