Chapter 51: Excitement turns to sadness

Daryl's POV:

Lamson just made a run for it. Pushed Sasha against the wall and knocked her out. Rick was chasing after him. After a few minutes Rick came back but without Lamson. He walked straight to me passing the other two cops. "He dead" I asked as he stopped in front of me. "He didn't stop. So ya I killed him" Rick said looking out the window. "I'm starting to think we should just take her by force" Rick said. "Nah we still have two of em. The plan was for only two. Plus they said that Dawn didn't even like Lamson that much. The plan will still work. If it don't then we take them by force" I said. I didn't want to have a full battle if it wasn't needed. "The real question is will they play along" I asked looking at the other two. "Let's find out" Rick said. We walked over to where they were sitting. "Lamson was one of the good guys. He got eaten by rotter's" Shepard said. "What" I asked looking at her. "Saw it go down" Licari said. "What the hel are you talking about" Rick said. "He was stupid and got bit. We saw it. If we die to the plan will never work." Shepard said. Rick nodded and walked away. "We head out in an hour. Radio Dawn and tell her what is gonna happen" Rick said going back to the window. Noah handed Shepard the radio and I went to help pack everything up. "I want to talk to the man who wants this." A voice coming from the radio. "Rick" Shepard said. Rick walked over to her and took the radio. "You wanted to talk so talk" Rick said walking back to us. "So you took three of our people hostage and want me to trade." the voice who I guess was Dawn. "It is your only option. We want our people back and I know you want yours. More than an even trade"  Rick said. "Ok I will have Kaley and Carol ready in an hour. Two of my officers will let you in." Dawn said. "Alright" Rick said. And gave Noah back the radio. "We do this then head to D.C." Rick said. "Alright lets pack it up." Tara said. We started to load everything in the truck and then put them in there. 

Kaley's POV: 

I was looking at Carol. She had came close to dyeing but Dawn aloud me to save her. Even though O'Donnell wanted us to put an end to her. I was sitting in my room and was in desperate need of a shower. I stood up but was distracted when I heard a knock on the door. I went to open it and saw Dawn. "Hey what do you need" I said getting ready to go finish something for her. "I just got a radio call. From Rick. Him and some of his people are coming to get you and Carol" she said. "Really" I said. "Yeah your original clothes are in your bag." Dawn said. "Thank you" I said with a smile. She nodded and left. I took a quick shower and got changed. I knew Dawn was a bad person and if Noah was with them. Hell Noah had to be with them for them to find me. She would want him back. I took a pair of scissors and put them up my sleeve. I grabbed my bag and was excited. I heard O'Donnell and Dawn fighting outside then heard screams and a thud. I ran out and saw Dawn standing there out of breath. "What happened" I asked. "He attacked me. So I pushed him down there" she said walking past. I was shocked. I went back to my room then to Carol's. Edwards was in there and Carol was awake. "Hey Kaley" Carol said smiling. "You really came through. Wasn't for you Carol wouldn't have made it" Edwards said. He helped Carol up then I heard Dawn. "They are here" she said. I walked out with Carol and they kept us behind everyone. I saw Rick walk through the door then Daryl. I didn't see Beth or Kaley though. They were probably waiting outside. 

Daryl's POV:

We got to the hospital and like Dawn said there were two more cops waiting outside. We all got out and we walked the other two inside. We stopped outside the door when we saw another small group of cops. Behind them I caught a glimpse of Kaley and Carol. We holstered our guns and walked in. "They are both fine" Rick said. Dawn looked at all of us. "Where is Lamson" she asked. "Rotter's got him" Shepard answered. "Saw it go down" Licari added. "Sorry to hear that. He was one of the good guys" she said. I looked at Rick. "One of yours for one of mine" Dawn said. Then they brought Carol and Kaley to the front. "Ok" Rick said. He grabbed Licari and walked forward. They gave us Carol first and she walked back to us. She went behind us and Dawn nodded. I grabbed Shepard and walked forward. They brought Kaley up and took Shepard. I wrapped one arm around Kaley. "You good" I whispered. She nodded. "Your sister and girl are fine" I said. She nodded again with a smile. "Thank you" Rick said. We were about to walk about but then Dawn said something. "Now I just need Noah. And then you can leave" She said. "That wasn't part of the deal" Rick said. "Noah was my ward. Kaley took his place and I'm losing her so I need him back." Dawn said. "Nah he ain't staying" I said lightly pushing him back. "He is one of mine you have no claim on him" She fired back. "The boy wants to go home so you have no claim on him" Rick responded. "Then we don't have a deal" she said. "The deal is done" Rick said growing more pissed. "It's ok. It's ok" Noah said stepping up. "It's not ok." Kaley muttered. "It's settled" Dawn said. Noah handed me the pistol and walked up. "Wait" Kaley said and hugged him. Noah was clearly a friend to her. "It's ok" Noah said. "I knew you'd be back." Dawn said. Kaley released the hug and walked up to Dawn. "I get it now" Kaley said. Dawn tilted her head. Then Kaley took out scissors and stabbed Dawn in the chest. Out of reaction Dawn took out her gun and shot her in the head. Her body dropped to the floor and we were all shocked. "No I didn't mean to" Dawn pleaded. I took out my pistol and shot her in return. Everyone on both sides pulled out there guns. "No its over. It was just about her. Stand down" Shepard said. They lowered there guns and tears came to my eyes remembering how close Kass and Kaley were. "You can stay here if you want" Shepard said. "No" Rick said. He was clearly trying not to cry. "And I'm taking anyone who wants to leave. If you want to come with us step forward now" Rick said. Noah was the only one who came with us. I picked up Kaley's body and knew this was going to hurt Kass. Bad. 

Kass's POV:

We drove up to the front of the hospital. I let myself get excited. We all stepped out and started to walk to the front entrance. There were a few walkers here and there but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle. I saw the doors open and I let a small smile come to my face. Rick came out first. Then Sasha. Then Tyreese and Carol. Then I saw it. I dropped my gun and looked. Daryl was holding Kaley's limp body and she was bleeding from her head "No" I cried out. I fell to the ground and Glenn dropped to my side. He was like an older brother to me. "Kaley" I cried out. I could here the cried coming from Beth. Maggie was comforting her. "No" I cried out again. I looked up at her body then to Daryl. He slowly sat her body down on the ground and I crawled over to her. I saw the shot wound in her head and grabbed her hand. Beth ran down to her as well. Daryl crouched down next to me and wrapped his arms around me. "Who" I said in between sobs. "Dawn. She dead. I-" Daryl said but got choked up. I nodded and more tears fell. Daryl wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his chest. I just found out she was alive and came to find her dead.
