HE SQUEEZED HIS EYES shut, wriggling under the blankets. His entire body felt alarmingly cold as he grasped at the sheets for some kind of warmth. His eyes shot open and he rushed to sit up on his bed, wrapping his arms around himself as tears pooled in his eyes. They all looked so scared of me.

Tokoyami swallowed harshly, pulling the blankets closer to himself. However, it didn't seem to calm his thumping heart or the chill that crawled against his skin. His eyes darted to his floor, noticing how dark it was outside and the shadows that danced in his room. It's stronger in the dark.

He hated thinking so negatively about his quirk, but ever since the training camp, that flashback had lived hauntingly in his mind. They all looked so scared of him over something he couldn't control; who's to say it couldn't get worse? His anxiety ate at him as tears dropped from his eyes to the sheets he held onto so tightly.

He hesitantly reached out to his phone, contemplating on texting his girlfriend. She might be asleep right now. He thought to himself before caving in, remembering how she had assured him that she'd always be there for him in a heartbeat. He quickly texted her, his fingers nervously itching at the blanket as he waited for a response.

Soon enough, three bubbles popped up before her message appeared. What's up, Fumi? He could practically hear her voice ring in his mind as he shakily typed back a reply, asking her to come to his room. It seemed like Y/n didn't need an explanation, the same three bubbles showing up before disappearing as soon as they came.

Tokoyami leaned against his wall, eyes wide as he refused to go back to sleep. What if the nightmare continues? Needless to say, the boy was absolutely terrified. He sat there for another five minutes, shivering and scared before a knock resounded in his bedroom. He swallowed and slowly got off the bed, reaching over to open it before immediately darting back.

His girlfriend stood there with a bedhead and in a cute pajama two-piece, her eyes soft and tired as she stared at her boyfriend. "What's wrong, love?" Despite the lateness at which he called her, a small smile was on her lips as she slowly entered the room and quietly closed the door behind her.

He ducked his head down, "I had a nightmare. I-I can't go back to sleep."

Y/n pursed her lips, cautiously approaching him as he instinctively made room for her on the bed. She curled up beside him, "Do you want to talk about it?" He shook his head rapidly and she gazed at him quietly, noticing how his eyes kept darting to the shadows that pooled against his bedroom floor and boldly painted the walls near him.

It hurt her to see him so scared of himself, a soft sigh leaving her lips before she lifted her hands. A small light erupted from her palms, warm and fuzzy as it gently glowed in the room, replacing the shadows that covered his room. He looked at her, heart thumping in his chest as he watched her switch the ball of light to one palm smoothly.

"I'll keep it on, just go to sleep," Y/n said quietly as he snuck under the sheets again, his arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer. Y/n didn't resist, letting him as she held the ball of light above them. A soft sigh left him as he looked up at the bright light and back at his girlfriend.

Despite her flashy quirk, Y/n was always known to be a soft-spoken person. She was compared to Ojiro quite often, the two were known for being talented and quick-thinkers, but always the type to remain behind and be supportive. That was one of the many reasons he had fallen in love with her.

To him, it was almost like fate that the same girl that wielded light ended up with the boy that had lived his entire life in the darkness of the night. She was the sun to his moon, the stars to his night sky and he truly wouldn't want it any other way. "You should rest too," He managed to say, his eyelids growing heavy slowly.

She laughed at his silly expression, "I will after you do, Fumi."

He hummed approvingly, tightening his grip as she slid along the bed, a small squeak leaving her lips as her head fell against his chest. With her quirk, the girl slowly let go of the ball of light and let it float in the darkness. "If it's draining you, you don't have to do this," He knew how much it concentration and energy it took for her to do that.

Y/n shook her head, denying it. "It's fine. It'll flicker out after I fall asleep anyway."

She closed her eyes as he did the same, the two reveling in each other's warmth.

It didn't matter if he had nightmares anyway, she'd always be there to chase them away.
