MIRIO BLINKED, his blue eyes darting around the living room as he walked into the apartment. He and Y/n had only moved in together recently and their work schedules were still a bit wonky (Mirio's wasn't even stable), so it was unusual to hear so much noise upon walking in. He glanced at the TV. 

There's not even a movie playing. He cocked a blond brow, still looking around as he unclipped his cape and tossed it onto the couch. "Baby?" Mirio called out, confused as he tugged his feet out of his shoes and made his way around the apartment, slowly stripping off some of his hero gear and setting it on nearby shelves.

He didn't find the source of the sound until he pushed the door of their shared bedroom, finding them in their office clothes as they keeled over the mattress, sobbing. "Hey, love," His typical smile immediately turned down to shape a frown, brows furrowed out of worry as he approached them, reaching over to set a hand on their shoulder.

Y/n put their head in their hands, tears streaking down their cheeks. "Sorry, M-Mirio." His blue eyes widened in concern and he turned their figure gently, pulling them into a comforting hug. "No, no, no. Don't apologize, sunshine. It's okay to cry, it's okay to be upset. I'm here for you, baby." He kissed the top of their head, rocking them back and forth.

They sniffled. "I-I don't know what to do. Work is so stressful and I really want to get this bonus but. . . " Mirio sighed softly, still rocking them in his arms. "Why do you want to get the bonus so badly, baby? We already make enough as it is." Y/n attempted to wipe away their tears again. It was fruitless, however, as more tears stained their face.

"I-I just wanted you to be p-proud of m-me."

Mirio's heart shattered. He swallowed harshly and turned their face to look at him directly. "Y/n, I'm always proud of you. You could literally pick up a worm and put it back in the soil and I'll be proud of you. Everything you do, no matter how big or small, are steps to becoming a better person; and I'm there with you every step of the way because I love you."

He hugged them tighter, kissing their cheek gently. Every now and then, he'd whisper sweet nothings, still rocking them. Y/n leaned their head against his chest, speechless. They attempted to process everything he said, only tearing up more and clinging onto his shirt. However, they weren't tears of sadness, just tears of love.

The amount of adoration and affection that Mirio had for them always stunned them; it simply made their heart swell. "I love you, sunshine. If you want to get that bonus, get it, but don't keep it from me if it becomes too stressful. I'm here for you through thick and thin, okay? If you don't want to get the bonus, that's fine too. You do what you know you'll be able to accomplish."

"I'll support and love you nonetheless, alright?" He reassured them again, humming a soft tune under his breath afterward. Y/n whimpered again, curling into his chest further. Mirio didn't mind the stickiness of his suit and the fact that some parts of his body felt sore, all that mattered to him was them. 

Their comfort was his top priority.

"I think I'm going to keep crying."

"That's fine."

"C-Can we take a bath together later?"

There was no lust in the question; just pure love and desire for intimacy. He laughed softly at how shyly they asked, nodding reassuringly only to kiss the top of their head again. "I love you, baby." Y/n cuddled into his grip, "I love you too, Mirio." A small smile shaped his lips, the boy relieved that he had managed to cheer them up slightly.

After all, their comfort was his top priority.
