"I WILL SHOVE THIS BUCKET OF POPCORN UP YOUR ASS!"
"OH YEAH?! I'LL SHOVE A CHIA PET SO FAR UP—"
"—could you all please be quiet? Y/n is studying for her test and I don't want her to get distracted." Midoriya spoke up, clearly nervous as they twiddled with their fingers. 1-A turned to look up at him, tilting their heads. Iida saluted him, "As class president, I swear to take responsibility and not bother Y/n while she is studying!"
The rest of the class eyed him a bit and the green-haired student just nodded gratefully before meandering back over to his girlfriend's room. In all honesty, Y/n wasn't bothered by the noise very much, but Izuku was. For some reason, everything felt so loud. He hated being so irritatable and sensitive to noises, but he knew it was a part of his anxiety.
Sensory overload was a common symptom when he had waves of anxiety and today just seemed to be one of his worst days. For some reason, his mind had been stuck on the idea that Y/n would find out about him identifying as "he/they". It's not like they wrote it anywhere and they certainly didn't tell anyone apart from their mother (who accepted them wholeheartedly).
He had also told All Might which took a bit of explaining but the man was more than happy to adjust and exchange between sets of pronouns. The support he had gotten had made their heart swell, but part of them was still scared of coming out to their partner. He had a feeling she would accept him seeing that she was y/s for Christ's sake, but coming out was hard.
No matter who the person was, it never got easy.
When they got there, she was still in the same position as when they left. Her hair was pulled back away from her face, her glasses perched on the edge of her nose as she stared down at her notes. She was currently studying for one of the math tests that Aizawa had told them about and Y/n infamously sucked at math, so here she was.
"Bakugo's getting more creative with his insults, huh?" She commented, huffing slightly as a small giggle slipped past her lips. Midoriya eyed her, anxiety eating away at him as they nodded and laughed awkwardly. "Yeah, Kacchan has. . . always been creative with his attacks." Y/n glanced at him, sensing an odd tone in his voice.
However, she trusted her partner to come to her when he was comfortable enough to discuss whatever it was. "You sure you don't want to study with me?" Izuku tilted his head with a small smile on his face. A light blush dusted his cheeks and they shook their head, looking at their girlfriend reassuringly.
"I think I'd be more of a distraction than a studying partner."
Her face flushed a bright red and she whipped around, grabbing a pillow and tossing it at him only for him to catch it and throw it back onto the bed, a smile on his face. "It was only once!" She scolded, turning back to her notes with red cheeks and an embarrassed expression. Izuku's heart fluttered at the adorable sight and he cracked a smile.
"Sorry."
"You're not sorry."
"Sorry for not being sorry?"
Y/n turned to look at him, rolling her eyes teasingly. "You're such a dork," All he did was grin adorably back, making her heart melt. Izuku meandered towards her, sitting on the edge of her bed before moving to crawl up behind her, setting his chin on her shoulder as his chest pressed against her back.
She grew flustered, but let him do as he pleased. "Ah, I can feel your abs," Y/n scrunched her nose, the heat on her cheeks refusing to leave. Midoriya frowned slightly. They knew they were a bit more muscular compared to the average build, but having it pointed out to them just remembered how masculine they were.
That's not what they wanted though. Sometimes they were confused about their gender and simply wanted to float through space. It was something that was so hard to explain but so easy to feel and Izuku hated it. Y/n, as if sensing his silence, turned to look at him over her shoulder. "If something's bothering you, you can tell me."
They felt nervous, their entire body feeling hot as tears started to pool in his eyes. "I'm just scared," Y/n faced them completely, shifting her entire figure so she could reach her arms out. She didn't pull them close to her until he fell into the hug, their chin falling onto her shoulder as tears traced down their cheeks.
"You can talk to me whenever, love. Take your time," She mumbled, rubbing his back comfortingly as he clung onto her. His mind raced with thoughts that she'd probably prove wrong anyway, but he couldn't help it. Izuku was scared. "What if I don't want to be your boyfriend anymore?"
The wording didn't seem to be the best as a voice crack filled her words. "You want to break up?" He quickly pulled away, wiping away his tears furiously as he shook his head. Izuku cleared his throat, watching as she reached her hands out to brush away some of the tears on their cheeks. "N-No, not at all."
"I just," He swallowed harshly. "What if I want to be called something else?"
"Like what?" Y/n tilted her head curiously, clearly open to the idea of changing how she referred to her other half. He shrugged, all of his anxiety finally eating away at whatever energy he had left. "Significant other. . . " Midoriya offered lamely. Y/n nodded slowly, "Do you. . . do you want me to change how I refer to you completely?"
Midoriya admitted, watching as she took his hand in hers. "I don't feel like a boy sometimes," Y/n didn't say anything, simply nodding understandingly. She fiddled with their fingers, humming softly under her breath. "What do you feel like sometimes?" Izuku shrugged again, unsure of how to respond.
"Just. . . floating in space, I guess."
"Like a bee?"
"A bee floats in space?" They raised a brow, looking at their girlfriend oddly.
"No, I mean like. . . en-bee."
Midoriya blinked at her before bursting into laughter. "You're such a dork!"
"I learned it from you!"
There was a moment of silence as the two caught their breath, his heart hammering in his chest as he turned to look at her. "So, you're okay with it?" Y/n blinked at them like they were stupid. Brows furrowed, she stared at them. "Okay with it? What do you mean? I'm not supposed to be 'okay' with it. It's your choice, I just respect it; it's not like my love for you changed."
He stared at her, finally processing everything that she had just said. Y/n tilted her head at him, "Anyway, is it okay if I use those pronouns in front of the class or. . . ? I don't want to accidentally out you." She said, staring at her significant other. Midoriya looked down at his lap before looking back at her with a shy smile.
"Um, you can refer to me as that in front of the class. I don't really want to 'come out' to them, I'd rather want them to piece it together. I'd probably have to tell Todoroki though. . . " Midoriya mumbled under his breath. Y/n smiled softly at them before bringing them into a hug, kissing their cheek afterward.
"Well, thank you for trusting me with this. I love you all the same and if anything else changes, don't hesitate to tell me. I won't mind readjusting to whatever you want to go by."
Midoriya felt their heart swell at their partner's words, a sigh of relief leaving them. "Same goes for you," He reached out and squeezed her hand. She smiled, kissing his lips gently before going back to studying her notes. Izuku watched her carefully, staring as she narrowed her eyes at another problem in her notes.
"You need help?" They asked and Y/n let out a sigh.
"Yeah, this equation really doesn't. . . "
The two droned on, Midoriya's worries finally eased as they helped their partner study.
