SHINSO HAD NO IDEA what he was doing here. He felt out of place, surrounded by elegant golds and crystal lights that rained down from the ceiling above him. It's not like the place made him feel any more average. Ladies in beautiful dresses glided around him, their delicate little feet tapping against the floor in rhythm with their dancing partner.
His purple eyes darted to anywhere but someone. If he was caught staring at anyone, he would be paired up with them immediately; it was the cursed part of being a royal at a party. The only thing that caught his attention was a soft giggle off to the side, followed by a pair of heels. Shinso clenched his glass tighter, a fake smile shaping his lips.
Turning his head to the side, he went to greet the girl that dared to appear by his side. It was daring, most definitely and he wouldn't disregard her guts for that. However, a sigh of relief left his lips at the sight of her. The one girl that had seemingly washed away his worries with little to no effort since the very beginning.
Lips parting, he spoke. "You aren't supposed to be here."
You spread in me
The moment I found you in the darkness
Your voice warmly wrapped around meY/n smiled cheekily at his comment, tilting her head to the side. "Would you believe me if I said that I snuck in?" She said as he followed his family's rules quaintly. If he was occupied with another girl, no other suitor would be adamant about coming towards him. Good. He owed Y/n more than he thought as she followed his lead, putting her arms around his neck.
Shinso tilted his head, "I wouldn't doubt you."
She hummed softly, her pink-painted lips pressing together as a thoughtful expression shaped her face. "Penny for your thoughts?" He questioned quietly. He didn't need to read her to know that this was going to be a personal question. She cocked a brow at him teasingly, "Just a penny? Hitoshi, I'm worth more than that."
He chuckled at that, rolling his eyes at his dramatic friend. The two spun to the beat played by the string instruments set in the corner of the room, her feet gliding similarly to all the women that surrounded him as he copied the firm and fanciful actions of the men. "Then set a price," Shinso said, eyes focused on her and only her.
Every time I feel your warmth
You silently seep into me
You fill up my empty heart
My days were colorless
But now my tomorrow will be colored by you
Just like this, dye with youIn that moment, nothing else mattered. The room hadn't disappeared instantaneously in his mind, but it became easy to rely on his muscle memory as he tuned the music out. The chatters of the partygoers didn't bother him and his parents' gaze didn't give him a heavy weight on his shoulders. Y/n leaned in, smirking. "A kiss," She remarked confidently.
Shinso even seemed surprised by her reply, but he took it in stride. "A kiss from a royal? Don't you think you're pushing it?" She laughed and for a second, it seemed like the chandelier above them seemed to find humor in his comment. It danced, jingling lightly as the choreography of the room changed, slowing to an entrancing, almost hypnotizing waltz.
"Is Prince Shinso Hitoshi unable to provide a kiss for his favorite princess?"
Shinso leaned in. For some reason, he was even more attracted to her. Yes, there was always that unnecessary waver in his heart, the sudden thump in his chest as he wanted nothing more to pull her close and cherish her for the rest of the years to come, but he never did anything; not until now.
