"BABY, BABY, WAKE UP," A soft voice woke little Reiji. Blinking sleepily, he raised his hands to rub at his eyes before turning to look at his mother. Y/n smiled warmly at the sight of her four-year-old, the kid staring at her innocently. He was the spitting image of Kirishima with bright red eyes and black hair that spiked at the ends.
However, his nose and eye shape were completely after his mother's. Reiji mumbled tiredly, "Mommy?" He glanced over at his mom who's smile widened. "Do you remember what today is, Reiji?" She asked quietly, making sure to keep her voice soft in fear of waking up her husband who was sleeping down the hall.
After all, that would make all her sneaking around be for nothing.
Reiji yawned, Y/n's heart melting at the small whine that left his lips. "Daddy's birthday," He answered groggily, still rubbing at his eyes that threatened to close again any minute. Y/n held his hands, rubbing them gently as she moved them away from his eyes. "Yes, it is. And that means we have to make those amazing pancakes and call all the uncles and aunties."
Reiji immediately jumped at that, a smile creeping up his lips. "Uncle Baku and Aunty Mina?" He smiled sweetly; they were two of his favorite relatives. In fact, Bakugo was his godfather. His godmother, however, was Y/n's best friend Yaoyorozu. "Mhm, Auntie Yaomomo and Uncle Denki. . . all of them!"
This time, the little boy was more ready to get out of bed. He wriggled off the blankets and slipped off the edge, his mother quickly adjusting him to make sure he landed on the ground safely. She kissed the tip of his nose, picking him up before traipsing downstairs. It was bright and early, seven in the morning.
Kirishima came late, so Y/n bet for him to wake up around eleven, so she had plenty of time. However, she had to set up the house first. Opening one of the kitchen cabinets, she brought out a grocery bag filled with party decorations. "Mommy? What is that?" He toddled over to it, the plastic wrinkling as his little hands opened it up more.
"Ah, sh!" Y/n quickly said, raising a finger to her lips as she looked to her kid. Reiji blinked innocently, not exactly understanding what he did. She kissed his forehead, sighing. "We have to be quiet, Reiji." The little kid had no idea how he was making noise, but he nodded anyway. He slowly pulled out the streamers, setting them on the kitchen floor.
After just ten minutes of pulling out the decorations and hanging them around the house, Reiji pouted, his lips puckering slightly as he slapped his hands against the kitchen floor. "Mommy," He mumbled, wanting his mother's attention as she stopped hanging up one of the pennant bars. "Yes, baby?" She scurried inside the kitchen, her fluffy socks sliding on the floor.
"I'm hungry." Reiji complained.
"Okay, c'mon baby," She picked up the four-year-old, setting him on one of the barstools connected to the island of their kitchen. He kicked his feet excitedly, watching as his mom took out his small cup, pouring him some chocolate milk. After that, she slipped some bread into the toaster as a little click resounded in the kitchen.
Reiji sipped his milk, watching his mom scurry around to grab the peanut butter and then a banana. Soon enough, he had a piece of toast smeared with peanut butter with slices of banana laid on it to make a smiley face. He giggled, taking a small bite of it and eating part of the smiley face's mouth. "Look, mommy! I ate his smile!" Reiji smiled widely.
Y/n smiled back, knowing full well that telling her kid to be quieter was fairly fruitless. She finished putting up the pennants over the TV, letting out a breath as she looked at her product. By now, it was around ten. The banner was up, there were a few streamers hanging off the walls, the pennants added a pop to the wall, and Reiji was now entertaining himself with his action figures.
