It was officially six days after the incident with Jaesung. Jieun's paranoia had calmed down a bit in that time and she was feeling a little bit safer in her own home again. In addition to that - some great news- the police had contacted Jieun a few days ago stating that Jaesung would face at least 5 years in prison, give or take, without a chance of parole. This was wonderful news for Jieun. Now she wouldn't have to worry about him getting out earlier than expected, which meant she wouldn't have to fret over moving houses any time soon.
But on another note, today was Sooyun's birthday. Jieun had privately messaged everyone to meet at the front door of Sooyun's apartment with party poppers and their presents so they could all surprise her. She would be bringing the cake over. Jieun would be going over with Soonyoung, like all the other times. And she even asked Jun if he wanted to come to celebrate as well since, over the past few days, everyone had gotten a bit closer with him. He agreed, so he would be joining everyone.
But what everyone wasn't aware of was another surprise, just for Yunseo and Jieun.

"Ready?" Soonyoung asked, looking at Jieun. Jieun drew a short breath as her mind processed her feelings before smiling at Soonyoung. Her heart pumped with excitement at the fact it was Sooyun's birthday.
"Yep. I'm ready to go." Jieun said. She reached for her seatbelt, pulling it down and securing it with a confirming click.
Soonyoung placed a hand on the steering wheel, starting the ignition. He glanced again at Jieun, making sure she had her seatbelt on properly before looking at the rear-view mirror to back out. As a car passed behind, Soonyoung opened the windows slightly, letting in a small breeze to freshen the air. There was finally an opening for him to reverse out and they were on the road not too long after.
The radio played faintly in the background as the wind whipped around, blowing a few strands of Jieun's hair around. Jieun laid back on the seat, relaxing as the car came to a stop at a red light. Her hands wrapped around a box that contained the birthday cake for Sooyun. It was a chocolate cake with a thick caramel layer in the middle and banoffee cream circling the edge of the top with slices of banana decorating the center. Jieun may or may not have been craving sweets when she picked this cake for Sooyun. At least she knew that Sooyun would enjoy the choice of flavours.
She jerked up when the car started up again and stared straight ahead, silently listening to the music.
"Let me guess... you're playing SHINee in the car right now," Jieun spoke, meaning her words to be a joke.
"At this point should you even ask?" Soonyoung replied, grinning while keeping his eyes on the road like a good driver. Not like the people in the movies. Those people always made Jieun anxious.
"Nope." Jieun grinned back at Soonyoung with an accomplished face.
Soonyoung rolled his eyes and switched the indicator on, smoothly turning into a smaller road. His eyes darted from side to side as he carefully checked the apartment building numbers. Jieun helped, looking for the right building. When she spotted it, a gentle nudge was all it took to point Soonyoung in the right direction.
They exited the car after parking was available. Jieun held the box with both hands steadily, carefully keeping it one step away from falling. One entrance and several flights of stairs later because the elevator was under maintenance and the two of them were at Sooyun's front door. Noone except Jieun and Soonyoung was here at the moment but they knew the rest of the group would be arriving soon. They took this time to make sure everything they needed was here, triple checking.
"Okay. You have both of our party poppers, right?" Jieun asked, whispering. Soonyoung reacted by patting his pockets to check and gave a thumbs up.
"Yep, they're in there."
"Great. Now we just need to wait for everyone else..."

It didn't take very long for the gang to make their way upstairs where Jieun and Soonyoung were waiting. Everyone quietly whispered greetings to one another, trying to keep their surprise for Sooyun as much of a secret as they could. Yunseo and Minghao were wearing colourful party hats, the latter not looking so fond of it.
"She made me wear it," Minghao said, pointing at the accessory on his head. Jieun let out a small chuckle.
"What did everyone bring for presents?" Yunseo nosily asked. She noticed Jieun's lack of a gift and raised an eyebrow.
"I'm gonna treat all of us to dinner," Jieun answered.
"What a lifesaver you are. I almost forgot about food."
"How dare you." Jun, Soonyoung, and Jieun responded."It's like a crime to forget about that-" Jieun said, offended. She shook her head in disappointment at the older. "I expected more from you."
Yunseo only stared at everyone with a look of disbelief and confusion before scoffing.
Jieun took a glimpse at the small crowd, making sure everything was ready. She looked at the door in front of her and said, "Let's knock on the door."
Her hand reached out, curled into a fist. She knocked thrice before standing back and waiting for the moment the door opened. Everyone stood in anticipation.
The door did not open to who they were expecting and it was met with two gasps of shock.
"Oh! Fancy meeting you here again."
Let me just say that walking up a steep slope to get to school is NOT fun whatsoever lmao
Anyway, those of you who listened to CIX's new comeback, what did you think of it? I personally really liked the last track and I thought the title track was pretty catchy and a totally different vibe from Jungle.
