Jieun found it hard to fall asleep that night, mainly because of the rising paranoia she felt and the fear of having her home broke into. Even if it wasn't going to happen or Jieun herself was positively sure that it wasn't going to, she couldn't stop herself from feeling that sense of anxiety. She felt like she had to sleep with one eye open, which the female hated so much. Jieun didn't want to feel unsafe in her own home that she loves so dearly. She wanted the feelings and thoughts to stop. But they didn't.

So Jieun was stuck in her own head with her stupid feelings that she didn't want around, late at night. And she was tired. She wanted her sleep. She wanted to be free of this fear. She wanted to stop fidgeting so much. She was beginning to get irritated by how much she couldn't stay still.

"Agh. Why can't you just stop being so annoying and just go to sleep? Stupid brain, so needy all the time. Is this what taking care of a child is like?" Jieun muttered in annoyance. She wasn't having any of it. Not when it was 2:00 in the night and she was sleep deprived from the night before, even after taking a nap.

Jieun layed there, trying to focus her mind on the three words 'go to sleep'. She had learnt from somewhere that the only reason you probably can't go to sleep is that your brain thinks it's busy with all the thoughts running through your head. Either that or you have insomnia. Depends. But if you lie down long enough and focus on one thing only, even if unintentional, you will be able to go to sleep. Apparently.

And this very night was the perfect time to try it out.

So Jieun concentrated, forcing herself to think of her three words. Every time she caught herself off-task, she mentally scolded herself for not focusing. Eventually, Jieun began to feel the effects of her sleepiness take place. She found herself slipping in and out of consciousness, sliding out of dreamland after being in there for about what seems to be four seconds and ends up being ten minutes. Jieun stayed still with her eyes firmly shut, drawing in average breaths of air as she listened intently to her pulsing heartbeat. It was just peace and quiet. The perfect atmosphere to be falling asleep. Which was exactly what happened with Jieun. Soon, Jieun wasn't listening to her body working diligently to keep her alive and, she didn't have to make herself repeat the words 'go to sleep' constantly. She was now calmly dreaming, her small inhales barely disturbing the silence.

The next day Jieun woke up feeling less tired and a bit better. Admittedly, she was still feeling paranoid about Jaesung or whoever breaking into her house and kidnapping her. Maybe she would feel better when the police would finally tell her what would be happening to Jaesung. They had promised to inform her when they figured something out but had yet to call or message the poor girl. Jieun was still waiting for an answer from them.

But right now at the moment, Jieun was slowly losing her mind trying to read a book. Her lovely neighbour had decided to distract and foil Jieun's plans to relax and lie around, reading by seemingly turning his volume up on his stupid speakers. How she regretted not buying him those headphones when she should've. She was considering smashing her way into his house and personally turning his entire power off but that would be too harsh. Luckily, the notification from the group chat would be a good distraction from the SHINee music.
