Since everyone was waiting for someone to start getting hungry, the party soon turned into an endless waiting game. A majority of the people were staring at the tv or their phones, with the exception of Yunseo and Minghao, who were whispering eagerly to one another. Chan and Sooyun were adorably cuddled together on the side of the couch, watching the Netflix Original movie that played in the darkly lit room. The smallest rays of sunlight barely peeked through cracks in the shut curtains, making the living room slightly colder than before. Jun was getting sleepy from the dimness, eyes droopy, phone hanging from his relaxed hand. That was also another part of why he was so tired, unlike Joshua, who was laughing internally at a group chat he was in. It belonged to the many friends he had made in America, including another Korean-American by the name of Hansol. But meanwhile, Jieun and Soonyoung were one of the four watching Netflix.
A large chunk of the movie was still yet unwatched, and no one wanted to leave for dinner just yet. Jieun was starting to feel peckish but said nothing, biting her lip, feeling torn after feeling she should. It was her first thought not to bother anyone, even if it just telling someone she was hungry. But she eventually turned to look at Soonyoung, nudging him gently on the arm.
"Are you feeling hungry yet?" she whispered to Soonyoung, who was one of the ones not paying attention to the tv.
"Yeah, kind of," he replied, taking his eyes off his phone.
"Should we tell them?" Jieun asked, pointing at her friends. Soonyoung looked thoughtful for a second, then nodded his head.
"Sure. Food is more important than a movie."
Jieun smiled. "True."
Jieun and Soonyoung got up, walking over to where Sooyun sat. Jieun probed her, causing the younger to look up at the pair.
"I think we should decide on a place to eat. Some of us are feeling hungry now."
Sooyun nodded at her statement, almost with a look of relief. To be honest, Sooyun was getting bored with the movie and like nearly everyone else in the room, wanted someone to get sick of staying here or someone to get hungry. She was glad someone finally stepped up.
"Sure, lemme just ask everyone else if they're feeling hungry yet..." Sooyun got up to ask everyone individually, moving around the couches slowly.
Chan looked at Soonyoung and Jieun. In a joking tone, he said, "Democracy at its finest." Soonyoung responded with appreciative laughter while Jieun looked at Chan with an amused expression at his attempt at breaking the ice. Although everyone was familiar with each other and already good friends, it was an uncomfortable situation being left off to talk with each other. But Chan's joke eased the tension, so it worked.
"But speaking about where we should eat at, I'm kind of feeling like that local restaurant near our apartment," Jieun commented, pointing at herself and Soonyoung. Soonyoung widened his eyes with recognition at the mention of the place Jieun was talking about, juxtaposing with Chan's reaction, which was one of confusion.
"The small one? Near the... convenience store?" Soonyoung hesistated at those last words, unsure if it would spark a foul memory for Jieun *cough* *cough* jaesung *cough* *cough*. But she didn't seem affected, instead enthusiastically nodded her head.
"Yes! That one!" she smiled as thoughts of the good food served there filled her head. "The food they have there is one of the best things I've tasted. I'm not even joking."
Jieun realised that it would be the perfect place to sit down and have some dinner with friends. The restaurant was not only a provider of delicious meals and set up on an uncrowded street. It was also not quite well-known, much to Jieun's sadness, but it meant it would be the best spot to eat at since it would not be full of people. Jieun also realised this gave her another thing to have in common with Soonyoung, but that was not important to anyone.
Chan thought carefully about restaurants near Jieun and Soonyoung's apartments since they weren't too far away. He narrowed down the choices, before coming to a conclusion about which one they were so zealously talking about.
"Wait... are you guys talking about *insert name of restaurant*?" Chan asked. Jieun was momentarily surprised Chan was aware of the existance of that place. She quickly nodded, followed by Soonyoung asking him how he knew the restaurant. This quickly began a deep conversation about local restaurants that served good food. Everyone in this conversation was strangely hyped up about these places, causing them to talk loudly in their excitement. This ended up waking the asleep Jun, who Sooyun had been nudging for over two minutes trying to wake him.
Alright, so just a teensy break here for your author-
I'm literally writing this chapter and it hasn't stopped, so I go and check how many words this is, and see that it's over 1000 words. Oops-
So here's an over one-thousand-word chapter lol. I swear I had the intention of writing a filler chapter when I started...
Sooyun returned shortly after asking Jun if he was hungry, to which he replied 'yes', falling into a short nap afterwards. All she could do was stare at him in disbelief. Sooyun felt slightly jealous that he could fall asleep so quickly. But moving back on track, Sooyun swiftly cut into Soonyoung, Chan and Jieun's conversation, informing them that everyone was hungry. That settled it. Sooyun called for attention to discuss dinner locations, getting everyone to crowd around the coffee table. Jieun looked at Chan and Soonyoung with a knowing smile, taking this opportunity to talk about *insert name of restaurant from earlier*. And like good obedient characters who didn't argue the protagonist's point, everyone didn't mind going to that restaurant.
So off to *insert name of- i'll just call it Vernon's Burnt Chicken Patty Place for the sake of simplicity, and don't worry, there's no person called Vernon burning chicken patties at the restaurant.
[Okay. Hi, Hello. Me from the future. Forgive me for any mistakes I'll have made in the past updates lol. What you saw from the above is the result of me not having a proper sleep schedule for the past few days! And I'm fairly certain that binge-watching Going Seventeen again has made me merge my nonexisting braincells with Seventeen's shared one lmao.
I see this as an absolute win. I get to binge watch Going Seventeen AND I get a braincell back-]
Everyone gathered their coats, purses, and important belongings, going outside to take their individual cars to Vernon's Burnt Chicken Patty Place, thus causing more pollution and further eliminating the innocent polar bears from Earth due to the devastating loss of the thing that made the Titanic sink.
