It was the end of the day and Jieun and Jun had parted ways again, deciding to meet once again at the same place at the same time as before. The painting was finally looking like it was supposed to, morphing into what they wanted and expected it to be. They had yet to paint each individual animal however, including the many other small details like the stars in the sky or the mist they wanted to incorporate for a mystical feel.
But that would be the point of tomorrow.
Tomorrow would most likely be the last day of work, when they would finish the painting.
[Next day... again]
Jieun dipped her thinnest brush into the white paint, moving her arm to lightly dab speckles over the dark blue paint. Not too little and not too much was added. She worked across the entire sky until the stars were evenly distributed.
Jun worked on painting the various animals that had been left out for last. At the moment he was skillfully painting a doe. He carefully coloured it, making sure there were no mistakes, otherwise he would have to wait for it to dry and then paint over the error. Despite loving art, in Jun's eyes, that was a hassle.
Jieun worked on adding mist to the art when she realised she had finished her task. She struggled quite a bit when trying to imagine how it would work but soon figured it out. The effect it gave when Jieun was finished with what she was doing fit well with what they had been going for.
Like yesterday, Jieun stepped backwards like Jun and observed the painting from afar.
And this time, it looked fantastic.
"Hey Jun, do you mind just moving to the side for a sec?" she asked politely. Jun did as asked and stepped away. Jieun continued to stare at her and Jun's work. She felt a sense of pride knowing that she did that.
"So. How does it look?" her partner asked curiously.
"It looks way better than before. Amazing would be the word to describe it." she said. Jun stood where Jieun was and looked at it too, wanting to know for himself.
"We did a good job." Jun concluded, lifting his hand for a high five. Jieun returned it and walked back to the canvas.
"Should we outline everything?" Jieun asked, about to sink a paintbrush into black paint. Jun thought about it before shaking his head.
"It looks good as it is. Let's leave it to dry and pack up."
Jun gathered all the tools they used and went to go wash them. Jieun stayed back in the room, sealing all the paint back in the lonely cupboard and went outside.
"Jun? Where's the bathroom?" she shouted, calling him.
"It's at the end of the hallway and then make a right turn!" Jun replied, his voice somewhat echoey. Jieun used his directions and got there, washing her hands thoroughly to get rid of the paint she had managed to get on her without realising. She quickly dried her hands and made her way to the living room.
There she sat, waiting for Jun to come back. She didn't have to wait long.
Jieun watched him walk inside and gave him a tired but content smile.
"It's been a fun few days, hasn't it?" she said. Jun laughed and nodded his head, there was a small blush on his face. He looked like he was thinking about something. It didn't fly past Jieun, and she noticed. "What's on your mind huh?" she playfully asked.
"Oh... um. I- I've been wanting to ask you something..." Jun asked. Jieun could feel his nervousness and wondered what it could be.
"Hm? What?"
