[Three days later]
Jieun now sat at the cafe, waiting for Jun to arrive and bring her to his place. She crossed her denim-covered legs, paying no close attention to her surroundings. So when a hand tapped her shoulder she jolted, looking up.
Her eyes met Jun's.
He smirked, amused by her reaction.
"Did I scare you?" he questioned.
When Jieun nodded he let out a chuckle.
"Well, anyway. We should probably get going now." he turned around to face the exit and began to leave with Jieun following closely behind. Jieun followed Jun into a black SUV, climbing into the backseat. Jun started the car and the two left to his place.
"So, how have you been?" Jieun asked in the midst of silence.
"Oh, I've been doing pretty well. What about you?" he replied, glancing at Jieun from the mirror.
"Same as you I guess."
They both said nothing afterwards, leaving an empty silence as Jun focused on driving.
Jieun looked up when Jun stopped the car, seeing a medium-sized house in front of them.
"Oh wow. This is your place?" she asked, startled. It looked pretty fancy, and it seemed to have a second story. "I assumed you lived by yourself."
"I do," Jun said bluntly, shocking the girl even more. She pointed at the house, unable to believe he owned a house like this for himself and himself only.
"No offense but, are you sure you don't live with anyone???"
"Everyone seems to react the same way when they see my house, but no. I'm pretty sure I live alone. Otherwise I would be concerned for my safety-" he laughed. Jun walked up the flat steps and tapped in the code for his door. It let out a small beep as the code was authorised and they were let in.
Jieun gasped in admiration at the interior of the house. If she had one word to describe it, it would be paintings. Lots and lots of paintings. There were many, from different artists and of different things. Although, they all seemed to have a colour scheme of blue. Jun smiled at Jieun, who continued to stare at every piece of artwork with an open jaw.
"You know, you have plenty of amazing artworks, I don't understand why you would need me to make one for you. It'll just ruin everything." Jieun finally said. She turned to look at Jun.
"Stop beating yourself up, I've seen the work you do. And the stuff you do is really stunning." Jun stated and shook his head.
He left no room for Jieun to retort and started walking away. Jieun followed silently. They walked through a hallway and into a room, where two easels held up a canvas. The floor was covered with tarpaulins, splattered with paint. In the corner was a table that held many cans of paints and brushes, mainly the ones they would use for the painting. And as if the room wasn't already what Jieun dreamed about in her sleep, it was also painted a beautiful shade of blue. She also noticed a wide cupboard next to the table.
"What's in that?" she said pointing at the cupboard.
"A dead body." Jun deadpanned. Jieun almost believed him for a second before realising it was a dark, humourless joke. She sighed.
"No, actually."
"Haha, just some more art tools and the sort. You can check if you really think a body is hidden. I mainly keep my paints in the garage since there's a variety."
Jieun clicked her tongue and nodded her head. In curiosity, she opened the cupboard to check. And as Jun had confirmed, there was no corpse. Just paintbrushes, paint palettes, art pencils and canvases.
"Well," she inhaled, taking in the familiar smell of paint. "We should start sketching, shouldn't we?"
"Of course, let's do it."
They began to work, communicating with each other on the details of the artwork and drawing it out. A comfortable silence spread between the two as they listened to the sound of their pencils. This would begin many more hours of tiring, hard work.
