We’re literally so close to the end of this book. Wow.

Jieun was attacked with loving hugs from everyone. And I mean everyone. Sooyun, Minghao, Yunseo, Soonyoung, Jun, Joshua and Chan were all there. Jieun couldn’t help but tear up at the fact.

And this was the best possible place they could’ve held the party. It was a beautiful gazebo, placed strategically in the middle of a clearing in the forest. It was lit with pretty fairy lights that hung over the top of the monument. Balloons filled with helium, shaped into the letters that made the words ‘Happy Birthday!” were tied to the fairy lights, floating in the air. Inside the structure was a round wood table with  benches that fit the rounded edge of the gazebo. A cake was placed on the table, along with plates of food, drinks and a few presents piled.

“I’m literally in awe, you guys. This must have taken so much effort to plan, you shouldn't have. Regardless though, it's so pretty! Thank you everyone...” Jieun said, smiling sincerely. Everyone returned her sme and they all made their way to the main party area. They began to celebrate, opening their individual drinks and toasting to a great birthday.

Jieun went up to the table to grab some food, piling a bunch onto her plate and taking some utensils. She went up to Joshua, who was also standing by the table and drinking a cup of soda.

“Hey!” she said to catch his attention. Josh turned to look at Jieun, curving his lips into a smile.

“Hey Jieun. Happy birthday!”

“Thanks. I knew you would make it for my birthday!” she joked, recalling the words she said a few days ago. Joshua laughed, shaking his head.

“Of course I would, I'm a good friend after all.”

Jieun nodded, then walked back to her spot, which was next to Yunseo and Sooyun.

“Oh god, these nachos are so good.” Sooyun mumbled, taking another bite of her food.

“Seems like you’re enjoying the food.” Jieun commented, sitting down. She decided to eat her food as well, eyes widening at the flavour packed in it. “Wow. It really is good, here try some,” Jieun fed Yunseo, who nodded in agreement.

“I should go get something to eat soon.” the eldest noted.

“By the way, did you guys plan this?” Jieun asked, waving her hands around at the gazebo. Yunseo nodded her head before shaking it. Jieun stared at her in confusion.

“I mean, we all planned it, but it was Sooyun who gave the idea to make this spontaneous in the first place.” she explained.

“Aww, you guys…” Jieun pouted, feeling the waterworks coming.

“Hey…” Yunseo murmured, rubbing Jieun’s back. The latter began feeling the tears falling, trying to wipe them but they were replaced to quickly.

“Shh, it’s fine. We’re friends, so this is what we’re supposed to do.” Sooyun assured, wrapping Jieun into a hug. They went quiet, Jieun sniffling.

“I… I just don’t know why I deserve you as my friends. I mess up so much, like the other day. I couldn't even stop to answer a simple question and that probably ended up disappointing Soonyoung. It feels like I'm useless because of that. Maybe Jaesung was right about me, even if he was such a dick. I even let him manipulate me so easily and it was you guys that pulled me out of that situation even when I couldn’t myself. Why is it always you guys that have to deal with my shit, I should be able to solve my problems without causing so much trouble for you all.” Jieun ranted angrily, causing Soonyoung, who was nearest to the three, to turn his head and stare.

“No. Don’t say that. First of all, you’re wrong. Second of all, you’re wrong-” Yunseo rejected Jieun's words. “Third of all, we are friends for a reason. We support each other unconditionally and make sure to help each other out in bad times. It’s what we’re supposed to do. We need to help you because if we don’t, we fail at being your friend and being a decent human being. And making one mistake in your life doesn’t instantly prove that you’re a failure, because you aren’t, just take our word. Jieun, you have to stop letting these things affect you so much, because they shouldn’t, alright?” Yunseo concluded, staring at Jieun with raised eyebrows. Jieun nodded sheepishly.

“Yeah, ok. I'll try to not let it bother me too much.” Jieun responded, smiling lightly.

“Changing the subject to something else but, have you confessed to Soonyoung yet?” Sooyun asked, lowering her voice as Soonyoung was sitting near them. Jieun widened her eyes, naturally looking away.

“Ooh~ when are you gonna tell him?” Yunseo slyly questioned.

“I will soon.” Jieun rolled her eyes at their behaviour. She was thinking of telling him after they cut the cake, since there was a chance to talk with him right after they ate.

Jieun picked up her almost forgotten plate of food, finishing it in time for the candle lighting and cake cutting.
