Jieun woke up in the morning with one thing on her mind.

Soonyoung.

So, without any hesitation, she hurried to change into acceptable clothes and brushed her teeth, skipping breakfast today as she wasn’t feeling hungry. She knew what she would be getting into once she confessed to Soonyoung, but the earlier the better, right?

She quickly opened her door and walked to the one right next to hers, leaning in to knock on the door. Jieun stepped back after and waited patiently for Soonyoung. She breathed in, feeling anxious and honestly, a little terrified. She didn’t know what to say, she didn’t make a script or anything to plan for this, so when he answered, it would all be from her heart.

But it was all in vain.

After waiting for a few minutes, Soonyoung did not answer. Jieun furrowed her eyebrows and tried again, this time knocking louder than before.

Maybe he just didn’t hear me. She thought, looking on the bright side.

Once again, she waited diligently for Soonyoung to appear, but it just didn’t happen. Jieun tried again, but when the results were the exact same as the last, she gave up. He probably isn’t home. She concluded. She took out her phone and quickly texted Soonyoung.

Me:
hey when you come back can you just come to my place
i need to talk to you

She turned her phone off, sighing. Jieun walked back to her apartment, deciding to spend her day as normal. To be honest, Jieun couldn’t stop thinking about what happened to other day. She was obsessing over it. It made her cringe when she remembered the way she was incapable of giving a response, and the small sigh that Soonyoung gave afterwards. Jieun utterly despised herself, replaying the scene over and over again in her head.

“Yeah, nevermind.”

Maybe that was why he wasn’t answering her text. Because he didn’t want to speak to her again. Jieun would’ve probably been just as unresponsive if that had happened to her.  It was so frustrating not knowing what Soonyoung was thinking, that he could easily be avoiding her or losing trust in her. Jieun didn’t want that. And that meant that she had to try mend everything before it was too late.

But for now, she couldn’t do anything if he wasn’t replying to her messages, so the only thing she could do was just try to be normal and just wait. For now, Jieun decided to check up on everything, including her social media, which she admits she hasn’t been on very often. Jieun had two Instagram accounts, a personal account and one for her art. She did commissions on the latter one, which was how she made most of her money. It was a bit popular, with over eleven thousand followers. She also had Twitter, but she barely went on it. Twitter was a dumpster fire she didn't want to touch.

Jieun check her dms, seeing quite a few requests for her. She checked the time, seeing that it was 10:24 am. She eventually to take up all the requests, as a way to pass time and make a bit of cash in the process. She took out her drawing pad, and opened up the app on her computer. Jieun held the pen in her hand and began to sketch the outline of the person she was drawing. It would be an original character, for a girl’s birthday that was coming up. They apparently wanted the picture to hopefully print onto the cake. Jieun was happy to help them, as long as they were fine with the price. Luckily, there were no choosing beggars and now Jieun was happily doing her best to, hopefully, make this girl’s day a little better.

Jieun eventually finished the project, which took around 6-7 hours to complete. She thought it looked pretty good and was a bit proud of what she completed. Jieun sent the finished art to the customer, who was very happy with how it turned out and they were on their way.

Jieun was currently taking a snack break, as she was famished after doing that work. Of course, she would soon have dinner but she wasn’t feeling bothered to cook just yet.

Now that she wasn’t paying so much attention on her work, her mind wandered to Soonyoung. Unfortunately for her, he still was yet to come back, which was slightly odd. It was nothing to worry about, since Jieun wasn’t in charge of him. For all she knew, he could be out with his friends. But something that was a bit strange to her was the fact that he hadn’t responded to her message. And it was quite clear that he hadn’t read it either, which would’ve probably made Jieun feel offended but at least a little more reassured. But whatever. If he hadn’t read the message yet, it was fine. Maybe Jieun would just have to put this off for the next day.

11:15 pm. Jieun sighed, feeling disheartened. Soonyoung still hadn’t come home yet, and there was a feeling of worry starting to manifest in her. Earlier, she had tried to message him again, even call him, yet he still didn’t answer.

Sorry, this person is currently unavailable.” was the message she was given when she had attempted the call. It was too bad that Jieun couldn’t do much about it. She just hoped that he was fine, despite what her brain told her.

Jieun was sprawled on her mattress, staring up to the ceiling, imagining, wondering. The serene atmosphere that lay outside, a slumbering city, greatly contrasted with the battle of emotions she felt deep inside. She felt a tiny layer of cold come in contact with her skin, pressing down on the heat that covered her body. It came from a place unknown, windows closed and doors shut tight. But it was nice.

Jieun listened to nothing but the small, repeating sounds of her breath, as she isolated herself within this room. She smelled nothing but the sweet scent of vanilla, faintly floating through the air. Calm. She felt at ease here, lying comfortably. A car drove past, the sound of the engine resembling like a thunderstorm. That was the only disturbance in the night, as everyone fell asleep. Until…

ding!

Flinching in surprise as she heard the sound of her phone, Jieun swiftly grabbed her phone, which sat next to her body. She turned it on, the light immediately blinding her and shining in the pitch blackness of the bedroom. Wincing painfully, she noticed that it was a text message from none other than Soonyoung.

Hoshi 🌟:

Me:

Jieun rolled her eyes, feeling annoyed at the fact she had to go to the park at this ungodly hour. Finding suitable clothes to wear, which meant a very large puffer jacket, she stuffed her phone in her pocket and left to the park, where Soonyoung would be waiting.
