And it was a disaster. That whole weekend had been more than Lan Zhan had bargained for. From the onset of the night till the morning of Monday, Lan Zhan had more than one time felt the grips of his sanity threaten to break down and the urge to pull out his hair. Wuxian was just that overwhelming and honestly annoying. He had pranced around the place suddenly on a high that he was a temporary housemate of Lan Zhan and had suggested various things for them to do. Moreover, the sleeping arrangements had been hell. Wuxian had all but refused to sleep in the guestrooms and had presumably situated himself right next to Lan Zhan as if it was the normal thing to do. Of course, Lan Zhan had drawn the line when Wuxian had attempted to get into his bed and had given him the option of either the floor or outdoors which Wuxian quickly corrected himself and spent the whole time on the floor next to him. And let's not talk about his first time officially introducing him to his father. From the very moment Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian walked into the master house for breakfast the next morning and Lan Qiren caught sight of them, it was quite evident that Lan Qiren would never warm up to Wuxian no matter what. He did little to acknowledge him nor did he pay attention to him. The only time he did give the boy the light of day was when he recalled if Wuxian was the same boy who had gotten into an altercation with Lan Zhan last term and once Wuxian acknowledged it, a great silence came over. Judging from his father's scowl, Lan Zhan was sure that Wei Wuxian would be on watch from the older man.
All in all, it was a hectic and tiresome time and Lan Zhan was glad that the weekend was finally over and everything would go back to normal or so he thought, he didn't know that from then on Wuxian would now be a normal sight in the Lan's household as though he was part of his life all long, fitting in perfectly.
The school week came along and by the half mark, a buzz was already in the air. It was that time of year, the celebration of The Luminescent Water Lillies that bloomed once every 7 years. This celebration was one of the most anticipated celebrations that the city folk looked forward to. A beautiful sight to behold that drew people from far and wide to come and witness this magnificence that only graced the land once in 7 years. A small cluster of water lillies would bloom as they are carried from the depths of the forests through the river channels within the city and finally settle in the lake across the city. People will flock and situate themselves along the river banks to view this once in a lifetime occurrence to see rare luminescent lilies bloom and awe at such natural beauty and ofcourse Wei Wuxian would not be left behind and his accomplice in all this would be none other than Lan Zhan who didn't mind that at all.
The school got extremely busy as they prepared to present things during the festivals. The town square would be filled with merchants and business people from all other places as it would be a perfect opportunity to sell their goods with the influx of foreign and local visitors and so the school also wanted to contribute to the festivities. With all that, Lan Zhan became busier with all his duties as student president and vice captain and left Wuxian all alone and that was all Jin needed to strike.
"Well, well, well, look who we have here, I'm surprised that you were able to separate from that lover of yours long enough Wei Wuxian. After all, you do run after him like a love sick puppy. Or has he grown tired of you already and thrown his toy away," Jin sneered as he approached the other who was busy waiting for Lan Zhan to finish up.
The sun was getting low, casting a glow over the place and the wind had died down at this time." What do you want Guangyao? Do you not have anything better to do than disturb my peace? How long are you going to keep acting obsessed like a mad dog and keep annoying me!? Honestly it's getting old and I'm starting to think you do not have any friends at all." Wuxian responded walking right up to Jin's face. He had had enough of his taunts and degrading talks especially about him and Lan Zhan.
