"We are reporting live from the GianZhao Courthouse. Following up the series of major car accident that took place a few days ago, the case has now been presented to court with Judge Zhang presiding over it. The Prosecutor's office have charged the young 17 year old Wei Wuxian with a number of allegations as the number one suspect of the incident. The trial has been closed with only the judge as bench trial. Given the special circumstances of circumstantial evidence, this seems to be one of the most controversial cases of the year. Now back to you in studio." one of the many reporters covered as they stood outside the large court house. A lot had taken place in the span of a few days and it was a tumulous push to the depths of the abyss.
When Wei Wuxian had first heard that he was being indicted, he had felt as though the whole world was playing him in a game of survival. Testing to see how much he could take. He had barely had the time to grief over Qin Su before the detectives came back and eventually got down to the real reason as to why they were questioning him. Turns out he was the main suspect of the case as only he and Jin had survived the crash and Jin was still in critical condition. The case had been much bigger than he had thought as a total of 7 people had been involved and unfortunately the 4 pedestrians they had hit had died later in hospital due to unstainable injuries, 2 of them being children. The police had tried to locate the driver of the dump truck but he had disappeared from the site and was on the loose. That in turn left Wei Wuxian to take the fall. Initially, he had been prepared to stand up and defend himself as this was completely preposterous but as time passed he realised he had been outnumbered heavily. He had no chance.
First of all, his so called family had officially disowned him from the moment they heard he was being tried. He received the separation documents two days prior as well as his belongings which, were being held by the hospital as cover since he now didn't any money or insurance to cover his bills until he turned 18 and the rest of his treatment was largely unpaid. Secondly, he didn't have a lawyer to defend him. Given that he was the defendant and one without any legal backing or money, he couldn't hire anyone neither could the state allocate him one since that would require a guardian's authorisation which surprise, he didn't have anymore. He was truly and utterly alone in the world. Nobody believed him and there was noone on his side. He had lost everything and stood by himself which even that, he couldn't do. In all honesty, Wuxian had simply lost the will and strength to fight. What was the point? Who exactly was he fighting for?! He was completely destroyed with nothing left. What good would come from it?! He didn't even have the slight desire to live and this whole trial process didn't mean a thing to him. They could do whatever they wanted as all evidence pointed to him regardless of what he had to say. They had already judged him.
"Your Honor, allow me to present the various evidence that has been collected from the Police Investigation. From the medical reports of the defendant, Wei Wuxian was under influence, his blood sample recording at 46% part of medical toxicity as well as a percentage of alcohol. We took the liberty of questioning a medical practitioner about such a state and have here is a written statement that dictates how such an influence can affect a person and in what ways it can, " presented the prosecutor who handed over the documents to the judge. The trial room was relatively empty except for the judge, the Prosecutor, the Court reporter and Wei Wuxian. Wuxian was stationed right at the centre, handcuffed in his wheel chair. He was still during the whole encounter as he hung his head low, his sloppy, breakable hair covering him. He had nothing to say as he listened to the list of accusations brought against him.
" We also have recorded statements and video that proves that the underage defendant Wei Wuxian was indeed the driver of the car during the crash. 68% of his blood dna was sampled and found on the driver's seat and airbag and the medical team that arrived on the scene did indeed pull and rescue Wei Wuxian from the driver's side. Allow me to present the evidence, " the prosecutor informed as the judge allowed for it. They all watched as the street CCTV camera footage showed the car crash scene and the ambulance. It only showed after their arrival and truly Wuxian had been in the driver's seat and pulled from that side. It was solid, undeniable proof that he couldn't deny even if he knew the truth. He knew what had really happened but it was all useless. He had no hope or chance. The only other person who knew the truth was Qin Su and she was now six feet under and Jin..... Jin would never witness in his favor. Even if his life depended on it.
