It was needless to say that by Monday morning, Wuxian was ready to fall over in a heap and possibly go into a mini comatose at this point. His whole body was sore and ached at various points due to his and Lan Zhan's training routine. True to his words, Lan Zhan had trained him to the bone and the two went head to head as strong as possible for hours on end. Lan Zhan worked tirelessly, pushing both of them to the edge over and over with little rest in between. The guy was a firm believer that a true Martial Artist was one who practised a move 10000 times rather than one who only practised 10000 moves once. It produced competence and mastery. Wuxian had whole heartedly agreed with him but now that he was experiencing the after effects, he couldn't help but feel as though Lan Zhan was a bit off upstairs. The guy was a beast.
A groan and low whine escaped him as he felt the uncomfortable tightening of his muscles as they constricted with each movement he made towards his class. For someone who had not trained like that in a long time then suddenly thrown into it, it would definitely take time before he got used to it. Wuxian arrived just in time before 7 o'clock bell rang signalling the start of their academic day.
As usual, he found Lan Zhan already there, settled and ready to learn. He had found out that Lan Zhan had held a perfect attendance from the time he had enrolled in the school arriving promptly at 6:30 am everyday without fail for the last 5 years. It didn't matter if he was tired or not, if the weather was bad or not, if there was anything that would constrict him or not, Lan Zhan would be there by 6:30 and no other way.
Wuxian gave a half - hearted greeting as he struggled to take his seat. He eased himself slowly, panting slightly before sighing in relief as he found comfort. All this while Lan Zhan simply glanced at him questioning his behaviour for the day. Wuxian was normally an early riser on school days and had a bright morning personality but today he looked like he wanted nothing more than to crawl into a hole and wither away. Not to mention he was late; later than usual.
Lan Zhan continued staring until Wuxian felt it on his neck and turned to face him. Lan Zhan simply lifted his eyebrow questioningly and Wuxian readily spilled the beans.
"Ohhhh Lan Zhan, don't look at me like that. I know I'm late...... I'm lucky I even managed to get in before the teacher. Gosh, my whole body is on fire Lan Zhan. I was soo tempted to skip school today but that would have brought issues with my aunt and it's the last thing I need now. How can you be soo unaffected while I'm on the edge of death itself Lan Zhan? It's soo unfair!! Tell me the truth Lan Zhan, you have hidden superpowers that why you still look immaculate even after out hell of a practise. Don't you? Tell me Lan Zhan!! " Wuxian suddenly switched as he held Lan Zhan by his forearm trying to make him acknowledge the fact that he was superhuman.
Lan Zhan watched Wuxian's actions and just scoffed at his notion. The truth was he was also physically drained and much rather preferred to rest than have school but he couldn't given the circumstances and therefore had just sucked it up and hid his tired state. However, looking at Wuxian's fallen state, Lan Zhan might have to reevaluate their training set for now.
The teacher came in soon after and the lesson for the day began. Wuxian tried his hardest to pay attention but once the monotone of the lesson settled in and the atmosphere condensed to a point of comfort, Wuxian couldn't help but succumb to sleep's forces. His head swayed left and right subtly to avoid the teacher's unwanted attention and his eyes were in a constant flux of losing focus and almost rolling to the back of his head. His consciousness was struggling to keep up and his struggle didn't go unnoticed by Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan had wanted to keep Wuxian awake and in the beginning had constantly kept him in check but realised it was futile. The boy was clearly not here with them. It would be more painful for Wuxian to endure more especially when the lesson wasn't even half way. Lan Zhan didn't know or even understand why but he decided to help Wuxian out this time.
