Things aligned themselves after that, both men working hard in their respective places. Life was growing vastly, each part contributing to the fully functioning system. Lan Qiren ultimately backed off, keeping to himself and his business. The alternative seemed to work out just fine for the rest of the family as all were too busy to give negativity any space in their lives. They found their working ground and all were happy with where they were.
However, it soon came to Wuxian's attention that something was not right. He had felt it first, that uneasy, water filled motion that someone was looking at him and not in a good way. In the beginning, he had thought it to be all in his head due to exhaustion and what not but as days went by, he couldn't help but keep getting that feeling like a second shadow was in him. Wherever he would go, that hidden emotion of being watched, spied on would come in full force and his body would tingle in response. He would constant check and try to spot any extraordinary things around but couldn't place anything. It was funny really as all of a sudden, Wuxian felt a great need to look over his shoulder from time to time.
That was somehow forgotten however, as the family came together to celebrate Lan Zhan's 33rd birthday. He wasn't much of a birthday person as per usual but since it was his first birthday with Wuxian back, he didn't oppose the small celebration party that his friends and family wanted to gave. His mother was more than ready to plan everything and it was still going to be as grand as all her parties were. Preparation went underway as usual and all was done by the time Wednesday rolled by. School was cancelled for the youngsters and the working adults took a day off to come and dine together during the last moments of the favourable weather and enjoyed the forgoing summer days.
They held the party from noon till late night; eating, talking and playing togther. The trio were all over Lan Zhan and Wuxian, going back and forth between the pair as they enjoyed toying with Wuxian while Lan Zhan was the controller. Liu Feng was about to go on a trip to Uruguay for one of their global welfare ambassador's conference and had been invited as the guest speaker. She would travel with Xichen as her partner for the event, not bothering with her husband. He wouldn't be interested even if she asked. With that though, came the fact that Sizhui would be left in the couple's charge for the two week period. There was no way he could stay in the estate with just his father, that spelt disaster all over it. Sizhui was more than excited about the idea, the whole thought of spending time with the lovebirds especially in his brother's house where those cute bunnies were completely thrilled him. Not to mention Jingyi and Jin Ling would come along to enjoy the ambiance Lan Zhan's House held.
Lan Zhan didn't necessarily dislike the idea but he knew he had to be more hands on once all 3 of them were in his environment. Some major strictness and order would be enforced; thrice the amount. He had to make sure they didn't get into any trouble. Wuxian on the other hand was totally up for it. He had on many occasions told Lan Zhan that when they got a son, he wanted a boy exactly like Sizhui so, him living with them was almost like a training ground for them. Add Jingyi and Jin Ling, Wuxian was going to be the best parent ever. The first time Wuxian had mentioned kids to Lan Zhan, he had almost chocked in his spit. Sure he wanted a family with Wuxian but it had come as a total surprise that Wuxian had thought that far ahead. They would have to wait and see about it.
Anyway, mother left and Sizhui moved in. Lan Zhan and Wuxian completely rescheduled their working routines for the two weeks as they attempted to balance their presence both at home and at work. It was important to make sure Sizhui didn't feel unattended to or left out. They rotated around his programme, alternating between house chores, picking him up from school, after school activities and attending some of his events as his guardians. It was quite an eye opening experience for both as the thoughts about the future became prevalent.
