"Stop fidgeting Wei Ying. You don't need to be nervous," the reassuring sound of Lan Zhan's voice called out as he made the turn into the lone road. They were currently on their way to the Lan estate to fulfil the promise he had made a few nights ago. All had been well until a few minutes ago when Wei Wuxian suddenly began to display symptoms of anxiety.

"Lan Zhaan! How can you be so calm about this?!! Don't you understand? This is no ordinary visit...... it's the first time I'll be meeting your mother officially as your fiancé, ofcourse I'm fucking nervous!!" Wuxian retaliated as he shifted in the car seat once more. His palms were sweaty and heart was racing. He was scared beyond words as reality hit.

" Wei Ying, you've already met all of them before. This isn't exactly the first time.... " Lan Zhan attempted to say.

"That doesn't count!!! That was for show Lan Zhan and part of a plan!! This is a lunch date with your mother!! You can't compare the two!"

"Lan Zhan, can't we just reschedule mmh? Tell them I got the flu or that our car broke down..... Tell them anything Lan Zhaaan, please!" Wuxian pleaded once he saw the large black gates open and they drove in. He was feeling faint. Lan Zhan ignored his whines and drove up to his mother's house. He was being over dramatic. He parked the car, grabbed the gift basket and got out. He waited for Wuxian to follow who was still not complying.

"Wei Ying." he called, his expression not impressed. Wuxian attempted to hide beneath the dashboard but it was futile.

"Out. Now." he ordered as he opened his door. They didn't have time for such games. Wuxian groaned as he watched Lan Zhan walk away into the house. There was no escape from this.

"Damn you Lan Wangji," he muttered under his breathe before grabbing the extravagant flower bouquet and followed. It was now or never. He took two deep breathes in then with a relaxed posture, stepped foot into the household. Jiayou!

"Ohhh Xiao Wangzi! Wei Wuxian! You're finally here!! Welcome, welcome my children!" Madam Feng called out joyously as soon as she spotted the two. She rushed over, hugging both in a loving embrace as they presented their gifts.

"Oh my, what wonderful flowers Wei Wuxian! These are absolutely gorgeous! You definitely have good taste. I shall put them up right away. Thank you soo my dear," Feng admired as she gushed over the plethora of colors.

"You're welcome Madam Feng. I hope you really like them." Wuxian expressed lowly as he tried to act accordingly. He didn't want to lose favour with her at all.

"Of course I do! They're beautiful! And enough of that madam Feng stuff, we are family now so call me Mama or auntie, whichever you prefer. You are now the family's in law, it is only right to act appropriately so, isn't it Lan Zhan?" Feng posed, peering at him.

" Mh." Lan Zhan replied, sending a confident smile to Wuxian. He didn't need to feel left out or intruding. He had always been regarded as part of them from before so this was more of a welcome back home party than a family introductory occasion.

" Xichen is yet to come as always and the food is not ready yet. Sizhui and the rest are outside. The two of you can go and have a look around or rest while I finish up." she explained as they moved into the kitchen. Lan Zhan was most likely to go and watch the boys and Wuxian had a different plan in mind.

" In that case, I can help you finish up preparing the meals Mama. It would be much easier with extra help." Wuxian offered.

"Ahh, that would be really nice. Do you know how to cook Wuxian?" Feng asked. Already she was marking points for him.
